    Posted: 09 January 2019 at 15:55
On monday Januari 7 Bob had to be in Leiden to pick up stem-cells from the clinic next day. Domien (Dopol) and Pieter (pegelli) went over for a Dyxum mini-meet. Unfortunately the weather was a bit dark and rainy but we survived and still saw quite a bit of the old town.

p1: Domien and Bob at the "Kiekje monument"

p2: Placque at the "Kiekje monument" (for the Dutch speakers it explains the origin of the Dutch word "Kiekje" which would probably translate to "Snapshot" in English).

p3: On the balcony behind Hudson Bay where we were not supposed to go (but we only saw the sign when we went back up the spiral chair)

p4: La Place (top floor of the Hudson Bay)

p5: Nieuwe Rijn

p6: We weren't the only photographers in the Burcht

2, 3: A7ii + APO Lanthar 65/2
1, 4, 5: A7 + Ultra Wide Heliar 12/5.6
6: A7 + Domien's FE24-105/4 (thanks for letting me use it )

Nice series Domien. I especially like "room with a view".

One nit, I think the first picture is the Hooglandsekerk.

Group shot... (apologies for the delay :-)

How to appear as tall as the tall people?.. use a wide angle lens, place it low and stand just in front of the others...

A7ii * Samyang AF24 * f/2.8 * 1/8 * ISO 1600

Indeed came out very well without a real tripod in the dark. And I wondered at the time why you stood forward a little but now I understand, "when in the Netherlands look like the Dutch"

The other series is nice as well, always good to see how different people "see" the same scenes

A few more from me

p7: Doing perspective correction (actually this image needed very little) is very difficult when almost every wall and widow is crooked

p8: A sea of bikes at the Law faculty (actually the former Physiscs faculty where the famous Heike Kamerlingh Onnes did his experiments to liquify Helium)

p9: Heike Kamerlingh Onnes, the Nobel prize laureat in front of the building named after him

p10: Citroen DS parked near the water

7: A7 + Ultra Wide Heliar 12/5.6
8-10: A7 + Domien's FE24-105/4

p12: Balcony of "Soldaat van Oranje" (Soldier of Orange)

p13: Hortus Botanicus + university building I

p14: Hortus Botanicus + university building II

p15: A look inside the university building, with busts of two Princesses of Orange and one King of Orange
(And a painted portrait of Sir Winston Churchill)

Lovely to see these images from the recent DM mini-meet in Leiden, with that spectacular Blue Hour group shot one of the many highlights.

b12 b13 both far better than my (binned) versions of the subject
I love the well-lit buildings in the botanical garden
As I see it, I either turned the skies slightly darker, or my camera sees them darker.

Some more shots with Pieter's Voigtlander ULTRA WIDE-HELIAR 12mm F5.6 III
#7 Hortus Botanicus Leiden in an odd light

fixed crop version

#8 The upper floors have gone home already

#9 Back to the canals

#10 15 stacked handhelds at 25600 iso (I love this technique)

#11 one of the many many alleys

edit for fixing crop
