If each AMAE has his personal RX1 in hand finally, all sponsored by our generous general members, a reconsideration to include it fully might be possible

Officially listed under Cyber-shot cameras: Professional Compact DSC-RX1. Discussions as well as occasional picture posts are welcome, though

The limiting factor of image quality rather will be the inability of the photographer than the clearly distinct shortcomings of the camera ;-)

Someone here is bound to buy one, it's just too good to ignore.
If I hadn't just bought the a99 and if I didn't also own a NEX-7...
Problem is, I need the NEX for my Rokkors so that can't make way.

It's not an Alpha though so I can't see a way in for it here.

I preordered with the external EVF. Hopefully I won't be alone.

It really isn't the same.

Unlike what seems to be a trend for "similar sites" we aren't really a sony brand users site. We are just a-mount community and the only reason why we have NEX system added because it has some convergence with a-mount.
RX, being on its own kind, has really nothing "vital" in-common to what our site is devoted for.

Said all that, i really like what i saw about RX1 and personally, it is currently the only Sony camera i would be really happy to receive as a gift (finders included in the package please )
A bribe (ups, should write a gift) like that may change some perspectives of course (take notice that i'm no longer the only person to send gifts to .. our AMAE team or at least admins only would need some "care" as well for perspective shifts)

Well, I am not a member of the AMAE team but I do have a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks and I would be happy to receive and evaluate an RX1 and after having done so lobby for it's inclusion

So there you have it, directly from the Dyxum owner's pen.

One RX-1 for Kiklop
RX-100s for all the admins

the above and maybe some memory cards for the mods and AEs will actually buy you a place in Dyxum.com for the RX-1, even if it is a cyber-shot!

There must be someone out there who cares passionately about this and has the funds to make it happen!

Well done Marlon!
I doubt you'll be alone unless you mean sans EVF. I may join you some day.
If you apply to be a mod, that'll be one less to fund.

Joking aside, this mod would prefer an E-mount E99 with the same battery, ergonomics, body style, menu options, IBIS (I hope DK is wrong, but he is probably right), and sensor size as an A99 with an optional LE-EA adapter that provides the same 19 pt (or better - the more points the merrier) PD AF module as A99. I like my camera (yes I have only one) flexible/modular and my lenses fixed. The RX-1 fails the first part.

Edit: this is of course in reference to exotic cameras such as the RX-1 or any possible future cameras like the one above. For the time being, A77 or A99 are flexible enough.

You're absolutely right of course, it's too limiting with it's fixed lens; there again that's what gives it it's magic IQ.

Really, I should be well satisfied with my NEX and 21, 24, 28 and 35 ROKKORS at the wide end although a FF NEX would put icing on the cake.

For those among us who enjoy zooming by foot it looks like an amazing toy....I sure wouldn't object to owning one.

nor would I object to a thread or two thoughtfully discussing it here)

I don't think you misunderstood me, but others might have. For clarification: I intentionally used the designation E99 rather than NEX-9. I don't want a NEX-7 with a FF sensor: I want an A99 (or A77) with E-mount and I am willing to bet it is coming. Sony may not listen to photographers, but they listen to these guys for sure.

Sony DSLRs have amazing innovations. OLED viewfinders, translucent mirrors. 1080p slow motion. The problem for me is simple. I bought a Sony A77. Loved these features then realised the flange distance (the distance from the sensor to the lens mount) was further than both the Nikons and the Canons, which meant I was stuck with Alpha or Minolta legacy lenses. Sorry, but I don’t want to buy new glass! I bought a fairly expensive Nikon to Alpha adaptor that has a focusing piece of glass in it so the lens can focus on the sensor correctly. Unfortunately way too soft. I put my super sharp 35mm F1.4 Zeiss ZF on it. SOFT! So I unfortunately returned it. The Sony A99 is the full frame version. Many similar features and lovely clean output AND you can record in-camera at the same time as a Ninja 2…problem is it’s the same flange distance. One really cool thing is Sony have brought out a proper XLR module for the camera with proper pre-amps in it and controls. Excellent. Now please can we remove that Alpha mount?

I personally don't mind the demise of A-mount as long as I can just put an LE-EA4/5/etc adapter and get the full functionality of A-mount lenses back. For me, the promise of E-mount is not all about being small, but is also about modularity. None of my A-mount lenses would be any smaller if they were designed for E-mount.

First goes the hot shoe, then the lens mount... All because Philip likes the XLR adapter and ZE lenses. Words cannot describe how I feel about even thinking of such a future.

Wouldn't you want to use a ZF lens w/o having to Leitax it? All I am suggesting is making the SLT mirror optional rather than built-in. You don't have to remove the LE-EA adapter it if you don't want.
