A few years ago I made a conscious decision to move away from Adobe for my post processing needs, as the last version I used was slow and didn't produce good results with the camera I was using at the time.

As a result, I looked at other raw development software, and after trying alternatives such as Capture One, I settled on Ichikawa Software's "SilkyPix Studio Developer". It's a raw development tool that doesn't offer any catalogue features, which I dislike, but it does offer a good selection of useful controls for "developing" your raw files.

I wrote a review of it for Dear Susan where I offer an overview of how to use it, and a few comparisons with the output from Capture One.

It's not a well documented tool, although the manual that is installed with it is very comprehensive, and I find it offers good features combined with excellent image quality. It focuses on doing one thing - raw development - rather than trying to be a solution for catalogues and editing too. I hope you find the article useful.
