I suppose 95% of members won't like this conversion but if you have some comments to make I'd appreciate it.

I don't mind the conversion. It makes the sea look a bit grainy though. The surfer looks like some kind of alien - shame the board doesn't have the same 'look'. I imagine it was a different colour to the wetsuit?

Yes, the board is light colored and the suit is black.

skm.sa100 I like the idea, if I did it I would 50% the surfer so it's half reversed and half normal - that would bring out the surfer without it looking completely alien-like and like graphic art instead of a photo.
On the other hand, if you title it something like "Surfing on the methane seas of Titan" I would LOVE it, LOL: http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/recent-experiments_topic109866_post1318849.html?KW=seas#1318849

Wind Surfing Ocean Beach. The same image cropped, taken w the amazing (IMHO) Rokinon 12mm, f.2 ultra wide. This is a treacherous beach, strong ripe tides and cold water from the Gulf of Alaska. Very few people ever in the water, most of the time it is foggy, cold and windy

This is just a heads-up and Oh BTW. I didn't know it was coming

"HALF MOON BAY, Calif. (SF GATE and KSBW) — Jan 12, 2018
Organizers of the Mavericks big wave surf contest have alerted all competitors to the possibility of running the event as soon as Tuesday because a significant swell is hitting California's coast."

my words: When conditions look to be coming optimum, the surf contestants around the world are put on notice to stand by for the contest

This is the official Press Release:

"TITANS OF MAVERICKS is the world’s premiere, high adrenaline, big wave surfing event. This one-day, invitation-only surfing competition is held at the legendary Maverick’s surf break located near Half Moon Bay, CA, only 20 minutes south of San Francisco and near the heart of California’s Silicon Valley. The 24 TITANS will attempt to compete at the highest level of skill, risk and athleticism to stand out and effortlessly challenge these the massive swells on the biggest and best day of the winter season."

"Professional big wave surfers from across the globe will travel great distances to take part in the most risk-oriented event in North America."

my words: ( The Biggest Waves of the Year are Coming) Get your boards Ready!

"The only way into the event is to be selected by the Committee 7 and earn a spot to battle it out – heat after heat – and eventually beating every other TITANS for the win. Each potential selectee will have to put his or her time in the water at Maverick’s. If you prove to the Committee 7 members you’re capable, and have what it takes, you will have equal consideration among any of the possible competitors."

    Cool,
I'm glad to hear it's on! I thought that the organizers had lost their funding and the event was gone. That would be something to see. Break out the longest telephoto lens you can get your hands on.

If it happens I hope you can get some shots to share with us.

    How about body boarding?
Felt cold just looking at the guys in the water (mid winter here downunder) but couldn't help myself from taking a few shots of the action.
