A very narrow final, many very good entries, but one has to be the winner.

Congratulations this time to Damian for his "God's County", a very nice BW image using a very nice m42 lens.

...and some honorable mentions to:

"BB" by Indigo

"MB 300SL" by Micholand

"Danger in Red" by Txarli

Thanks all for your participation.

Congratulations Damian!

Glad to see that you are only letting go of you AF-equipment... So we can still see more of your great Takumar shots, can't we?

Also congratulations to Indigo, Micholand and Txarli.
Regards, Michael

Wow thanks everyone! I'm absolutely ecstatic! With such amazing shots in this competition, I must admit I am very surprised.

I have been entering the DPC for over a year and would be simply overjoyed to have this image sit alongside the great works in the hall of fame.

And yes Binbald...many more Takumar shots to follow :)

Ha -- I got the winner and one of the HCs.

Have I got four eyes or what?

Congrats Damian -- I have always enjoyed your B&W treatments.

Brettania...it's almost like you had some sort of influence over the end results...uncanny!!

There was actually a fair bit of processing on this one if anyone is interested in the details.

Shot was at f/16 or there abouts...mostly for DOF since my m42 adapter doesn't quite hit infinity :)

It was a 'ghetto HDR' as described by another dyxum member some time ago. Basically bracketing using a single raw file to extract as much dynamic range as possible and masking the two shots. I was happy with the blown out highlights. I also mixed the colour channels for the sky to roughly that of a yellow filter (perhaps a little more red channel), and did a little high frequency USM (500, 0.2, 1)

Congrats Damian =) It's a really magnificent capture.

And thanks for the honorable mention of course. This will most likely be my last DPC so it was a good way to end (though a win may have been a little better, hehe =)).

See ya around!

Congratulations, Damian! Nice shot, and especially impressive hearing that your lens doesn't go to infinity! Someone on the forum should send you a new M42 adapter as a prize. If I ever come up with an extra one, I might do so myself.

And congratuations to all of the honorable mentions.

Indigo, that was a brilliant shot (and earned my second place choice) and I'm sad to hear you might not be back. Stop by some time and post some shots in off-contest.
