These things are still open to a bit of chance: it could get cancelled of the donor or the recipient gets sick between them and now, but I'm getting excited already - until last year, when I did new York I had never been outside Europe.

I know the flights take 24 hours and my day will be totally the wrong way around, but I'm confident of being up for putting some faces to familiar names.

When I know more for sure I'll start up a thread...

Following! I'm arriving Brissy on the 5th. The only thing planned at the end of the month is a family get together on the 26th on the Bribane River.

Would be nice to have a Dyxum meet so soon after we arrive, but I'm not 100% sure about the dates yet.

I sort of have a hazy memory about saying I would catch up with Bob if he comes down regardless of the location though...

Patrick,
I remember when we met in Melbourne a few years back, so hopefully you'll be able to hop on a 2 hour flight from Brisbane and join us. It will be up to Bob to set the date and location, and we can fit in around his urgent schedule.

I'm not sure of the exact dates yet, but I've been asked to do a courier trip from 19-25 November...

I'd be up for it it happens before the 24th - after that and I'll be in Japan again.

I'll watch this space to see when (if) your visit happens.

It might work for me as long as I'm back in Brisbane in the evening of the 25th at the latest.

Bob: keep us posted!

First day in Brisbane is about to come to an end. Any news Bob?

Bob J, any news?
---
And unrelated to the above, I'm curious whether the other Melbourne-based Dyxies(?) are expecting anything interesting at the Melbourne's Photo Show being held by Michaels. I'm not sure what they could have from Sony - I'd like to think the a99ii, but I can't see Sony AU having one available.

I'll probably wander in at some stage to catch up with other togs.

Great Victorian Bike Ride

Any Dyxumers going on the GVBR this year through Gippsland? I'm not riding this year, but I will be there as a vollie - which means I don't have to constrain my photo kit to what I want to carry on the bike

If any other folk are coming and feel like meeting , with or without cameras or a , now's your chance to say.

Anyone in Melbourne going to the annual White Night Festival this Saturday 17th February and overnight through to dawn on Sunday?
Lots of illuminations across the city and surrounding parks and gardens.
I'm planning to go with my camera and tripod, and will post some photos afterwards.
It'll be very crowded so a rendezvous-vous would be pretty hard to organise.

Definitely on my schedule! I'll be meeting a couple of old school friends at some point, and probably some people from a G+ community at some other point, but there are twelve hours to fill.

I'm still deciding which system to use.

The annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk is coming up on 6th October, and this time there's another one in Melbourne going over a very familiar route starting at 10:00am under the clocks at Flinders Street Station, then to the graffiti art of Hosier Lane, back to the Block Arcade and Royal Arcade and ending up at the Queen Victoria Market.
Here's the sign-up link

Having covering this ground many times, I'm a bit ambivalent about it, although each time of course there will be different photo opportunities, and the chance meet up with like minded individuals.
Last time I went a couple of years ago, I was amazed at how many of the participants were shooting Sony mirrorless, whereas when I started on these I was the sole Sony amongst a sea of Canikons.

I am spared from having to decide whether I want to join that mob as it will be my mother-in-law's 90th birthday. The party has been locked in since we tidied up after her 89th birthday last year.

I probably don't mind that I can't go. There is only so often I need to revisit Hosiers, and the arcades don't strike me as useful locations for a large mob of photographers.

These days I see a lot of Sony E, both sizes, a lot of Olympus, a few Canons, a few Fujis. Notice the obvious omissions? I don't see many Nikons in the wild.

Sadly, A-mount is also uncommon enough that mine earned me a hug recently - she was so excited seeing me with the same α99ii & 70200G combo as she had that she almost leapt onto me.

We've been living in The Gong (Wollongong) for close to three months now and getting a little bit settled in. Just wondering if anyone would be keen for a meet in the Illawarra? There's certainly no shortage of beautiful scenery around here if you're into that kind of thing.
