SAR published some more vague rumours today about the third FF camera which will be launched next year, after the 24MP and the 36MP. This is not a NEX nor is it an SLT, but a hybrid mount.
Would anyone care to speculate what this might be?

a miracle!

(not sure, but hopefully you can use A and E-mount. Looks promising!)

I find myself imagining a FF camera with a detachable SLT bayonet and AF unit that could also take other lenses: I guess that might be via an emount bayonet, but as far as I'm aware the coverage of e-mount is not wide enough for full-frame, although it would allow them to attach other mount lenses... However, while this is what I would like to see, I think I'm just fantasising...

I think it is more likely that it will be a cine/video offering like the recent Canon announcement.

You could consider the NEX-5N/NEX-7 + LA-EA2 a hybrid mount. Maybe something along those lines?

I remember suggesting just such a thing on SAR some time ago. A kind of FF NEX-7 with the provision to be A mount or something like E mount. The problem would be that E mount lenses would be DT not FF. This would have the focusing wizardry inside the body but not the A mount adapter, and the A mount adapter would be supplied as standard.

The true genius would be to have fully functional (ie: exposure, AF, aperture control, etc) Canon and Nikon mount adapters so that Canon and Nikon users could use this body and we could get the full use of any of their lenses

Pie in the sky? Who knows!

Well, like you have DT and FF lenses for A-mount, you could have the same for E-mount. 99% of the lenses I use on the NEX are FF anyway.

I could not see the point of a full frame nex camera since there are no full frame E mount lenses. You sort of end up with a full frame A mount camera that could accept NEX lenses - and I dont exactly see the point in that, as no one is crying out for the wonderful choice of NEX lenses in A mount (since they all already exist in A mount!).

that indeed would be a stroke of genius - if the standard mount was detachable and could be swapped for a Nikon or Canon mount with full functionality, it would work both ways: we could use Canikon lenses and Canikon shooters would have access to a body with likely some wizardry within not available to them with their own bodies.

marketingwise it would make the changeover for Canikon shooters also a lot more attractive. Sony would not stand much to loose, but i guess Canon and Nikon would not be amused.

IMHO there are hundreds if not thousands , I happen to own quite a lot of them, and I would love to use them on a FF NEX or E-mount/A-mount hybrid

There are a lot of people who use NEX for MF lenses - that is the main attraction of the mount to me.

Opinions seem to be divided on this. The mount is bigger than that of Leica RF cameras and they are FF of course (except M8).

Maybe Sony is working on something like the Ricoh GXR with an A-mount and an E-mount module (and while we're at it: an M-mount module )?

I wouldn't be too excited about that rumor although it is SR5. We saw many early rumors that didn't come true. Whether the information is wrong or things change in a year time.

Having a line with 3 different FF bodies is a huge and risky move by Sony. It puts Sony in the Canon\Nikon league. I hope that at least 2/3 of the rumors are true...

It will have an A mount that would collapse towards the body to reveal the e mount. haha

Go Dawgs!!!!
