So the latest rumor links to a site that claims that what will be available as the mystery full-frame will be a full-frame sensor in a body with an e-mount connection that will allow a-mount lenses to connect. What I wasn't sure was whether it will have a few of the missing amenities (SSS, extra dials and SLR like interface). Sounds like it could be the best Sony for me next year. Sounds like it might even draw a lot of non-Sony users too.

Very exciting!

I guess e-mount is now Sony's priority! So sad.

I know how you feel. I've got an A-850 and despite what it lacks (live-view, better High ISO) it's one heck of a great camera. I was very much hoping that I would be buying an A-950 in a few years. But reality has set in. I'm glad Sony is making some good money with the SLTs and NEXs. Hopefully that will make it possible for them to maintain their support for my equipment. And with any luck this will include a high end full-frame model. But if it doesn't I'll survive (and so will all the rest of us). So my choice is sell my kit and buy Canikon or take a chance on Sony continuing to make interesting cameras for me. In the meantime I've picked up a NEX 5N and a few lenses. That gives me a nice light indoor camera with pretty decent high ISO for night-time photos. The EVF is pretty nice and the focus peaking and ability to use legacy manual lenses is very enjoyable. I have a feeling that in a couple of years NEX and SLT will converge into one line. So when I believe Sony isn't going to make a good camera line I'll sell out, but until then I'll take a Pollyana-like attitude toward the future.

Regards,
John

Sony may have plans to lure full frame DSLR owners into also considering a NEX for backup (the compact choice), while allowing sharing of lenses. Sure, NEX lenses would be APS-C but it might be a matter of flipping a switch on the FF to allow convenient use of E-mount lenses as well (via an adapter, of course). This will help expand NEX market as well and consequently, the e-lens choices.

It could also be a hybrid like the A580, offering a package of DSLR and SLT conveniences together. And I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a FF SLT either. A95?

While using emount lenses may interest some I assume that being able to use ff legacy lenses via emount will be more important to most. Maybe
