Beautiful cards from Fred_S and aplmike. Well done.

It looks like the US Postal Service does more barcoding than the European postal service equivalents. I don't think I see any extra marks on the image side of Fred_S's card, but Mike's clearly has barcode marks.

Also, it seems like there are fewer big smudges on the images this DPE. Maybe the postal services and upgraded their equipment.

The one from Fred has barcodes on the back side. The one from Mike has barcodes on both sides. But both look great. I hope that my postcards will start arriving tomorrow, at least those to Germany, Netherlands and UK. Israel and USA will take a little longer I expect.

BTW, as I mentioned - I ave one spare from last year - anybody?

@MiPr - thank you, sir. I'm looking forward to receiving another card from Poland!

@rovhazman - thanks for including DPE in the challenge index. I never knew about that thread. It reminded me of the other Dyxum events that I used to participate in.

Maybe I'll kick things off again with Week 50mm that's coming up in a couple of weeks. My favorite is DPE for sure though, primarily because of the analog/"real life" elements of the event. It's not purely digital.

Regarding the best time of year for the DPE, it has creeped later into the year. Should we stick with sign ups in September (after northern hemisphere summer vacations), send in October, shoot all year?

Art, the card was sent to you this afternoon. Only that it will have three ordinary stamps because the one which was there originally ... expired (thy are valid 1 year from purchasing). I planned to order/print one additional custom but today I had such a hustle that I couldn't make it. So, having 15 spare minutes when waiting for my daughter I went to the nearby post office and just bought ordinary stamps and sent the card :) I hope it will travel fast

Mirek, thanks for going through the extra effort! I think I prefer seeing regular local stamps vs. the custom ones.

Have all stamps evolved to "peel-and-stick" vs. "lick them-and stick" everywhere?

The ones I have send are the 'peel-and-stick' kind and I am ok with that, never liked the taste of glue. But for stamp collectors the charm is a bit lost, I think. Imagine using steam to get the peel-and-stick kind of the mail

I'm delighted to report that a card from KoBra64 arrived today, utilising an ingenious lightweight back to provide stiffness to get through the postal system unscathed.

Northern harbour, Groningen, NL

And the stamp:

Is that really a 2014 stamp? And franked in Zwolle too.

Dank je wel, Peter!

I received another card, this one is a bonus one from Fred...

It is a "sunrise shot just around the corner". It is nice to see you live in such a lovely corner...

It arrived absolutely undamaged! I am very surprise from the Israeli Post Office - typically they lose mail items, and so far I received 2 cards in a very clean and undamaged conditions. Here is a phone picture of the card:

(the bright marks are just reflections from the sun here - not a damage in the card...)

Fred, it is a bit dark, as we both complained. I also added white frame to my cards, and it might be that the white frames makes it feel dark. Anyways, I generally like "dark" photos so I am happy with the postcard I got!

Thank you, Fred!
