Hi everyone

I haven't posted any photos for a while, so here are a few more that I took on the same day as some of the other pics that I have already posted. These are nothing special, but please feel free to comment/critique.

1.

2. This one was an experiment to see just how much I could get the CZ16-80 to flare!

3.

4. I don't actively go looking to shoot architectural pics, but seem to get drawn to buildings naturally, so here are a few more

5. I've done my best to save this one in PP, but I think it's barely alive!

6.

7.

8. I liked the spray-painted faces on the 'vessel' (I'm not sure if this can be called a boat or if there's a specific name for it) but struggled to take the pic with the evening light dissappearing not to mention the freezing cold!

9. And to finish off, here's something 'nice and simple' (which could actually be the title!) but I'd like to call it:
"Solid\Liquid"

Number 2. JUST EXQUISITE!

What a lovely use of light and colour. Impressive. I would put that on my walls. Surely, you are a talented and gifted photographic artist.

Thank you, much, for sharing.

Interesting set. #2 is very nice but I really like the last one! And I'm not normally a black and white fan (outside of Ansel Adams and other period stuff). I love the patterns and textures in it.

When the photos are this good, criticizing them yourself just sounds like you're fishing for compliments.
So I'll bite...
#1 - OK not great. Needs a point of interest.
#2 - Wow. Beautiful light and color.
#3 - Same as #1. Also funky bokeh.
#4 - I like this one. It might have been better with a longer exposure and a carefully aligned CPL. Not enough to cut the reflections out, just tone them down.
#5 - I actually prefer this one to #4. Almost looks like IR. You could heighten that effect with some more PP.
#6 - Nice rhythm and pattern. Good B&W conversion.
#7 - Weakest of the set for me. The columns up front overpower the cityscape and the way it cuts off the building is not too appealing.
#8 - love the colors and the smiley faces .
#9 - also very strong. The light brings out the textures and shapes. Almost an abstract. I'd at least look at a very stark high-contrast version of this one.

Cheers & happy shooting,

Thanks for your very generous compliments everyone - and no, I wasn't fishing for compliments, I was merely judging my pics against the fantastic standards set by the other photographers on this forum!

p_man, thanks taking the time to provide detailed comments. I've reworked #9, which you can see below, but I may have gone a bit overboard with my interpretation of "very stark high-contrast"

The pic below was taken on the same day which was posted in an earlier topic and has been cropped in line with advice provided by another helpful forum member, kathyk:

I like it (maybe pull it back just a little). Thanks for humoring me. This type of thing is very subjective, but I think that the new version has a kind of older, film-like feel. It also has a stronger emotional impact for me, imparting a stronger sense of cold desolation.

But, of course, I could just be way off base. It all depends on what you like and what you were trying to portray in the photo.

I like the original of #9 better. In fact the new one is so dark it's almost hard to work out what it is.
