Thanks for that. Never realised it was so bad! In that case, I'd agree with Sony probably having the same thoughts as with the live view scenario on the A700. Shame anyway. Maybe we'll see an A-mount video camera someday soon! (I'm aware there is an adapter available for pro-qualiy machines). It's not for me, just my girlfriend is interested in cinema/video/writing, so thought it would be nice for her to have a wide selection of lenses for it one day.

Indeed. Current cameras tend to have a severe "jello" effect, where everything looks like its wiggling side to side. Very distracting..

Personally, I don't care about video anyway (that is why they make video cameras... ), but unfortunately, the market will not be so nice...

I bet the price of the A230 from the German site is incorrect.

The suggested retail price for the A200 was/is 399,- Euro, so the A230 cannot be at 550,-.

Reading a lot over those last few years, but first post...

Bob, are you refering to the main dial (modes, P, green, etc.) or to the function dial of A100 (White Balance, Drive, etc.)?

I think the main dial is there, on the three models... On the left side of the camera (same position of the second dial of A100 and KM-A2). But it's flushed into the camera. You can see it better on the rear view of A330.

Regards,

Lupa.

I think they also will refrain from video for a whole different reason: high definition video is available from Sony through their dedicated camcorders. Remember, their high ends also have G glass and Exmor chips (usually 3 of them to split RGB signals for video). I doubt that they would endanger their sales in that area. And I must say for video I'd prefer a dedicated video camera, as a dslr does not have the ergonomics of a video camera. A D90/5D mk2 only become usable video cameras with a handle cage, which easily run up to and exceed €1k.

I'm saying MS only because they only mention MS as an accessory on those Danish pages - Sony also seem to be doing a push on HG memory sticks and supplying them with a neat little USB reader...

As for the video thing, I guess because they would only be taking a feed from the viewfinder sensor at a reasonably low resolution?

Sonystyle Germany has them as well.
A380 body only seems to be €750.
A330 body only seems to be €600.
And A230 seems to be €550.
Those prices seem a bit weird to me, especially the difference between the a230 and the a330, but I guess we will have to see how this plays out.

Bob - are we sure on the MS only bit? If its MS only there is little point to show 'MS' on the backpanel - they only need to show a remaining count
