A550 No lens shutter lock :(

Used to have an a100, using my bower 8mm fisheye I could set the cam to A priority and the camera would meter the shutter and iso on its own.

Upgrading to the a550 I was sad to see the shutter is locked except in M mode when the camera reads no lens attached.

Is there any way to turn off the shutter lock???

Unfortunately not, all cameras issued after the A700 have lost this ability.

So two options:
- use M-mode (which is not bad anyway, and fun once you get the hang of it)
- put a JamesLaoT chip in your mount (or if it's a M42 lens get a chipped adapter)

Not true. The 'Release w/o lens' menu option returned with the A560/A580 and all the SLTs.

The A850/A900 got a firmware update that allows release without lens.
