US Info:
Vertical Grip (VG-C70AM) - "Shipping NOW" *Batteries NOT INCLUDED Sonystyle USA Website

LCD Protector Hard (PCK-LH1AM) - "Available 11/1/2007" To get it, add a A700 to your cart then choose it as an accessory and then remove the A700

LCD Protector Soft (PCK-LS1AM) - "Available around 10/22/2007" Sonystyle US Phone Sales

Battery (NP-FM500H) - "Available NOW"

I just called Sony and they have given a rough date of 10/22 for most of the things above including the new T* Zeiss filters.

I bought a spare battery today at a Dallas Sony Style Store. The US parts web site (not the style web site) also has them.

I've been thinking a want thread for new accessories would be a nice idea to give Sony some ideas.

I know I would like to see them maybe do a

1) L bracket.
2) Wrist Strap
3) 12V battery charger for the car.
4) Simpler/Smaller remote control (just one that does camera stuff, maybe add a timer too).

I was kinda surprised they didn't come up with a 12v charger, since it should be straightforward and sounds like an obvious thing to make. I hate using inverters. My truck has an AC outlet..... in the bed, and it only works with the truck running. Still would like just to have a real charger for the car.

RRS (Really Right Stuff) has IMO very good L-plates, but its still the one and only l-plate ive handled.. despite not using tripod/monopod that much yet.. the l-plate has almost never left the camera..

They don't have one for the A700 yet.. i guess there will be 2 avalible 1 for the camera and 1 for the camera+vc.

Has anyone considered one of the Giottos AEGIS Professional Glass Optic Screen Protectors? They seem to get good reviews from the other sizes that have been reviewed and it may have better optical clarity than one made from "transparent polycarbonate".

I ordered the Sony NP-FM500H battery from Crutchfield (through Amazon) and FedEx tracking shows it being delivered on Tuesday (09/25) - the day after my camera arrives.

ETA: I have an extra hand strap from my 7D - once the grip becomes available I will be attaching it the the A700 (hopefully it fits!)

I contacted them the day after the camera was announced. They hadn't heard about it, so it was good I had emailed them. At anyrate, the owner confirmed they will make one for the A700. But they need a camera for fit. Who ever gets them a camera to barrow gets a free bracket.

My L bracket has only been removed from the body once, and that was to go to KM service.

It's just a temporary thing, --at least I hope so, but the A700 grip and 2 batteries will cost over $500 with shipping. Ouch! That cooled my jets plenty.

EDIT:
Can it be that the snap-on hard plastic LCD protector is an accessory not included and must be purchased separately? I will not use peel-n-stick film myself.

Oh my :-(

It does - now. It didn't as recently as yesterday and this contradicts earlier replies from sony "sales advisors," on the phone and in person.

So it does seem just a bit overpriced.
