Hi All; I will be traveling to Australia this year and will be travelling light which means no DSLR. I am looking for a compact all in one/super zoom camera. I have a Fuji s2500HD but want to upgrade to something with a little more control options and would appreciate input from any one with first hand knowledge of this type of camera. Some of the fetures I want are decent IQ, jpeg/raw/video capability, panorama, viewfinder, SD or MS card use, non proprietairy batteries such as AA.
I know I won't find all of my wants in any one camera but would appreciate hearing from fellow Dyxumer`s on thier likes-dislikes on non DSLR cameras. Camera brand is not important to me in this case.
Thanks in advance for any input.........Vic.

What kind of price range are you looking in at?

And more importantly, where are you going in Australia?
A77+VG, A700+VG & 70-400mm G, CZ 24-70mm, Sig 10-20mm, 100mm Macro, 50mm 1.8

I would like to stay $500. or less retail price & would prefer to find something lightly used. I will be flying into Sydney or preferably Brisbane, visiting family near there then maybe Cairns and points north from there...........Vic.

Have you considered the Sony HX100V? It's gotten some solid reviews and the price is below your limit.

I have a Canon G12 for when I'm traveling. I highly recommend you at least consider one. The Nikon 7100 is also a solid option. Neither will offer the zoom range your looking for, but they'll be able to handle most everything else.
Sony a900, Sony a77, Sony a700, Canon G12, Sigma 24-70 HSM, Sigma 70-200 HSM, Sigma 10-20 DC, Sigma 24 DG, Sigma 50 Macro, Quantaray 135-400

Rouge; Thanks for the input. Of your 2 suggestions I think I would choose the Nikon 7100 just for its extra reach, but I thinkI will likely end up with one of the super zooms as most have a slightly larger sensor size. I just think if you never know ahead of time what you might come across and I'm only taking 1 camera it should be as wide ranging as possible.

If going for maximum zoom, look at these:

Nikon Coolpix P500 (36x Zoom)

Canon PowerShot SX40 HS (35x Zoom)

Specs and price are similar.
Sony a900, Sony a77, Sony a700, Canon G12, Sigma 24-70 HSM, Sigma 70-200 HSM, Sigma 10-20 DC, Sigma 24 DG, Sigma 50 Macro, Quantaray 135-400
