I'm amazed that none has mentioned the world cup until after the quarter finals are sorted... I'm still more amazed that the nations left in amoungst the admin team include Croatia, Sweden, Belgium (OK so Pieter only lives there), England and (less surprisingly) France.

Give us a shout out in this thread if you are from one of the other countries represented - one of the most lovely things about Dyxum is its ability the cross borders...

Congratulations to the English team for winning its game by a penalty shootout (breaking the spell)!!

...now we have to find someone else to lose to on penalities!

Very strange being in Frankfurt tonight - although I'm sure all those world cup trophies (plus the ones to come) amount to at least a little compensation for the German people.

Germany fan here living in the states. Very disappointing thier exit with that roster tbh. Still its hard to be upset with all the hardware on thier mantle. Im actually hoping now that were eliminated that a new squad such as Belgium hoist the cup

There was some chatter in the What music are you listening to at the moment thread about the Sweden-Germany game.

Being Dutch, we're out.
Being 25% German does not help, as they are out as well.
Belgium is one of the Low Countries, so, I consider them Nederlanders

Anyway, the Belgians played great and I will root for them!

As Israel made it to the world cup only once (Mexico 1970), here we are free to pick our favorite...

This world cup is the first time I'm watching the games with my 5 years old son, and he goes with the stars... So it was Argentina (it was funny to see how he could not accept the fact that Messi lost... He thought it is impossible...), and now it is Brazil (although Uruguay is also a favorite thanks to Suarez).

If you have a conference call or a meeting planned tomorrow afternoon with people from France, don't expect them to pay attention or actually attend
See my webpage!

Ok, I can dream. England to get the double on Saturday? Mark Cavendish to win the First Stage of The Tour De France and England to beat Sweden...........?

I don't have a favorite team, and I always hoping for an exciting game to watch. Sometimes I hope the underdog team will get a goal first, so the game would be more entertaining. And of course always hoping for more goals.

I thought this year, the Swedish team is pretty good, especially the first half vs Germany, too bad they did not get rewarded a penalty kick for the breakaway. But they beat Mexico and advanced.

Belgium, what a great come back vs the Japanese.

2 more games tomorrow and we will know the final 4.

Congrats to our French members!

Although my heart was with Croatia, my son went with French and we had a bet. He won ice-cream... It was very nice to see him so excited, not only from the game, but also from the quality time with me (he said "it is the first time we watch the finals together!").

You must have had a great time Shay! I don't have any sons, only girls. That's probably why I don't care much about football
