Gda' All,

This request is not photography related, but is Automotive related.

My vehicle has a missing tooth in its smile. Well mot exactly, but that how I think of it everytime I look at the missing center cap on one wheel. "Hense, all the charm of a smile with missing front teeth" comment.

I have managed to hunt down the only center cap for the mag wheels that are on the vehicle that is available on the internet. But the seller is in the U.S.A and is not willing to ship it international go figure. The wheels are actually made in Korea, but went out of production about 6 years ago. I dont think the manufacturer is even trading anymore, so its not like I can get one there.

My options to purchase would be to request the assistance from one of our helpful Dyxum family members in one form or another. Find a good courier company that will redirect the shipment for a small fee (more likely a large fee), Have four new center caps manufactured from a stainless fabrication company locally, leave all caps removed (just looks wrong) or purchase five new mag wheels at an average cost or $3K for a set.

The original center cap listed for $US25 and the seller has the last living cap (new) for sale at $US100 (alot for a piece of plastic the size of a lens cap).

If anyone here has another option that I have not considered, I'd be willing to listen. If you would like to assist me with this small purchase, I'd like to hear from you.

Please send a PM so that I can show particulars of the intended purchase so that you know that nothing dodgy is going on and we can make further arrangements from there.

Anyway, hope that some kind Dyxumer is a willing helper.

Kindest regards,
Craig

Maybe if you share car make/model and a pic and stock nr of the actual wheel, someone is able to help out and source a cap closer to home. Maybe a Korean member of fellow Australian or someone in the car parts business...

Thank you for the replies and PMs.

@Fuzzphoto. I began looking for a matching spare wheel for this vehicle back in 2009 shortly after purchasing the car used. The wheels were purchased and fitted by the director of the company he worked for (who was the previous owner) as he bought the wheels in the USA and I have been told by tyre fitters and outlets they were not directly imported into Australia, the wheels are aftermarket mostly USA.

However, the wheel company is called ALBA, Wheel Model is 555 Temper and the P/N: DM-555 with some listing or AL-555.

Anywhere the item has been listed on the internet as being available, I have contacted. Many, many moons ago I was in the auto industry for a few years and I also have done spare parts.

Thanks for the thought though.

Regards,
Craig

Hi I've had your problem for years, plus nothing off the internet has even come close.
If nothing else works, you might want to try 4 $5 bubble mirrors and epoxy.
Actually works well for me and the "Purple Bullet"

I looked up the part number, but there's no consistent result. If you're essentially looking for somebody to reship it for you though, I am willing, as I am sure others would be.

Its great that there are so many members here who are will to help out another Dyxum family member.

I would like to thank all those members who have made offers to assist and with alternative ideas how to resolve the issue.

Presently Dyxum member "pdeley" is on the trail of trying to actually collect the item direct from the Amazon seller and is waiting on a reply.

Another Dyxum "Basil" is waiting in the wings in the event that Paul is unable to collect and runs out of time to have the item shipped to his residence and then forward on to me as he is about to travel.

And with other offers here in the thread as well, I have enough offers to help to get the item as long as it is still available.

So I would like to thank each member here who have offered or would consider offering if they knew earlier.

Kindest regards,
Craig

A BIG THANKYOU goes out to BASIL of the DYXUM brotherhood.
The item above I purchased and was delivered to Basil and he has since forwarded the item on.

Dyxum is a good place to have friends all over the world who are willing to help out one another even beyond the photographic communnity connection.

So I would like to thank Basil and Dyxum.

I would also like to thank Paul (aka pdeley) for his kind assistance and also like to thank Dennis (aka dca1213) for his kind offer to assist.

Kindest Regards,
Craig
