Anyone tried removing scratches from rear lcd?

Hi everyone! I found some scratches the other day on the rear lcd screen of my a700 due to the horrible, plastic Sony protector, which in my opinion, does more harm than good by simply trapping fine particles between itself and the screen. My question is, has anyone tried removing scratches by using one of those scratch removing pastes like Displex, for example? Somehow, I fear it may make the screen look uglier, as it has a dissolving agent inside. Would it be safe? Any opinions, please?

Just leave it as it is, as long as the screen is usable for what it is made for, there is no need to do anything.

It may not look like new, but that also is not the case when you poke your nose against it....

Anyway, i would be very reluctant using something with a dissolving agent in it - it may well do more harm then good.

Before installing the Sony LCD plastic protector, a film type protector should be installed so when dust accumulates, it rubs against the film protector not the LCD.

The film protector can be removed and replaced as needed and the LCD will remain in fine shape.

to remove scratches, you have to actually remove a layer of material from the rear LCD. Polishing out scratches like this is going to make your screen look awful and scrub off the anti reflective coatings etc on there.

Just live with it

Fit a GGS or similar decent quality screen protector even if it's scratched it should be less noticeable.

The coatings on these Sony LCD's are notoriously prone to damage for some reason.

You can buy the FOTGA glass screen from evilBay for under £3.00 delivered. Same as GGS for a fraction of the price and as I've used them on all my Alpha's over the years, I can recommend them to anyone looking for such a multi-layered protector. See item: 250940180561

It also enhances the text and images (makes images really sharp when reviewing or reading the menu).

I also have a GGS on Sony A850 for more than two years now. Works very well, no scratches, easy to clean very clear.

I one type used Displex on a A380. I was stupid, it ruined the screen badly. The coating of the screen was removed, not the scratch.
Most Alpha's have other screens than A380, but be aware if you screen has a anti glare coating.
Sony DSLR-A580 and NEX-5 with 'some' lenses.... I'm in denial that Lens Lust got me !
