I still have day 28-30 to process and post and hope I can manage this before I travel to India for a business trip on Wednesday. Busy times....

Not completely done. I still have to do some commenting. I failed in that area . Rest of my intentions worked out fine.
I now can recommend the SEL85F18 (I'll add comments in the lens reviews).
It is a fun lens to shoot with and it's remarkably sharp.
And looking back at the shots, I think I am satisfied with the results

I'm finished as far as taking shots is concerned, but I've only just got back from Scotand (Glasgow and Edinburgh - very nice) and only have today before I'm off to Tubingen... So it might be a while before I'm actually finished posting and am able to put up the voting stuff for the thumbnails...

No rush, Bob. I think I've only actually placed one thumbnail!

That's my Day 30 pic posted. I think I exceeded my 3/week target actually managing 7/week.

I also am sorry I've not had time for commenting. April coincides with school holidays which makes me busy for a variety of reasons such as Peak Work and Peak Family time. It doesn't leave much else.

Strangely, as my sons get older, my evenings seem to get busier. I thought they would 'look after themselves' but instead I get coaxed into helping with homework, the odd game of chess, maybe helping Scouts etc. Don't get me wrong, it's great fun but it certainly takes up a bit of time

In the meantime, I've been fuly subscribed to all the threads and I don't think I've missed seeing a single photo. (Yes Angora, even your recent catchups with the early days threads!)

I'll try to squeeze in a few retrospective comments over the next week....

    Well done everyone!

    I too failed at commenting

I can go back to commenting on random pics... how many days do we have left before voting starts? or is it too late for comments?

Ah commenting. I managed day one, then got absorbed in the reality of a busy life/job. Even the Talk Thread proved too much. In that respect this challenge is/was a failure for me. Perhaps I should set a more modest target (3/week) and stick to it, leaving more time for the Talk Thread. Unfortunately it is the taking pictures part of the challenge that I like most.

Fortunately I have kept my Thumbnail Thread up-to-date, as doing that afterwards is a huge job.

The commenting part seems the biggest struggle for most of us. Everybody seems to be busy these days. I am done with posting and thumbnails. It was my first challenge and I liked it a lot!! Glad I did not go for a pic a day as challenge, three a week was enough to handle, without cheating. However, the Dyxum meeting, Day 105 and my unexpected trip to Warsaw took quite some time as well. I have included those event passes in the thumbnails now. Including those, I managed to fulfill my challenge.
Only just saw there is a day 31 as well
My contribution to the talk thread stuck halfway, an area for improvement for the next round.

Right I'll comment on one random pic (using dice roll) from each page, picking up where I left off... (IIRC)

    day 5, page1 - dice roll #7
Maffe - A perfect example of STF bokeh and close focus. I love a good miniature shot, but I find a little dark for my taste.

    day 5, page 2 - #1
wetapunga - yet another STF lens shot. Nice composed, nice creamy bokeh with nice sharp pollens.

    day 6, page 1 - #11
Bob J - I think this the 3rd time I am commenting on your fishy shot. My dice clearly likes you fishy compositions and so do I. Certainly inspired me to try out more with my own.

    day 6, page 2 - #2
rovhazman - expression and moment well captured. Personally feel the picture is a bit 'hazy' and could do with a bit more contrast/saturation.

    day 7, page 1 - #9
thamarie - well I have noticed you like your flower shots and mostly I like them too. But with this I can find what's in focus or a sharp stamen of the flower. I like the composition and smooth background though. Also not sure about the 16:9 (or is it 16:10?) style orientation for this.

    day 8, page 1 - #2
Snegren - Certainly that bokeh and rendering would have preferred if I could see more of the flower's 'face'. But still very nicely composed.

    day8, page 2 - #13 (there is no 13th pic, so I picking one I liked most)
maricontis - a nicely captured portrait of your child. Well focussed too, I like the b&w conversion.

    day 9, page 1 - #1
gregja - well you made my mouth water also your camera is infinitely exposing - "1/0 sec"

    day 9, page 2 - #4
rovhazman - Looks like have captured the pic from your childs level which makes for a nice composition and you have captured the moment well

    day 10, page 1 - #3
LAbernethy - Looks like the cat is lost deep in thought

    day 10, page 2 - #4
greek_alpha - I like the composition of the building pattern against the sky and the b&w conversion. I think it would have had more of an impact if the shadows falling from one building on to the next was a bit more prominent/darker.

That's all for now... will pick up tomorrow hopefully

    day 11, page 1 - #6
gregja - a nicely composed and a interesting way to photograph a truck. I feel it'd have been better if right side was cropped slightly or if it was composed slightly to the right.

day 11, page 2 - #3 (no 3rd shot, so I'll pick my fav of the two)
angora - lovely bubble bokeh of that trioplan along with an excellent example of a punchy tulip. What's not to like Also looks like a painting

    Day 12, page 1 - #5
pegelli - yes what IS the dog doing? certainly has got the attention of 5 people and a photographer too Might have been nicer if had managed to get the person on the right in the frame too as there is some empty space on the left.

    Day 13, page 1 - #14 (no 14th pic, I am picking my fav)
Bob J - Beautifully composed and processed fishy shot I like the menacing sky over St. Pauls and how all paths lead to it with people going in and returning.

    Day 14, page 1 - #8
onsplekkie - The moment is very well caught and captured. Also focus seems spot on

    Day 14, page 2 - #1
Macca - I'd probably move the queen a well captured shot with out of focus hands and very nicely processed, really liked the b&w conversion.

    Day 15, page 1 - #10
MiPr - absolutely beautiful and lovely shot. well executed

Day 15, page 2 - there is only one photo on this page
Bob J - another nicely composed landscape with a telephoto lens. I also like your processing, the sky pops out nicely.

    More to come later...

Thanks to everyone for their participation in this year's April Foolishness.

Could I ask people to get their Thumbnail threads up to date by Sunday (or let me know if you need more time) and I'll try to get a voting thread set up.

Apologies for having been rather tardy with the voting thread for thumbnails, I was away last week and I'm due to be away from Monday too... At the moment I'm hoping that another couple of participants will get their thumbs up before we start...
