April Foolishness 2017
Voting Thread

This is the voting thread for the exhibition.
Please use this thread to vote for your favourite entries of each participant who has posted his/her photos in the Thumbnail thread!

Voting will be open for 2 weeks, until Monday January 1.

We encourage everyone to add comments as well, but on the line following your votes - please keep it within the format to make counting easier.
And please do not respond to comments directly in this thread! Keep using the Talk Thread for that purpose.

What should you do now?

1) Go to the Thumbnail thread.
2) For each participant pick your favourites. Please use the number to the left or above the photo in the thumbnails. If there are no numbers, please do the maths yourself.
3) Post your votes here. You can award up to two photos by assigning 3 points to the one you like best and 1 point to the second one. You can award only one photo if you like; in that case give either 3 points or 1 point to that photo. Copy the template from below, give your votes and please stick to the format:
username1: 3pts: image number
username1: 1pt: image number
Comments: add your comment here

username2: 3pts: image number
username2: 1pt: image number
Comments: add your comment here
etc
4) Feel free to add comments, but please try to keep to the format!
5) Feel free to reply to the comments people give you, but please do it in the Talk Thread
6) Have fun!

Thank you for voting!
At the end of this, we'll count all the votes and have a great exhibition from the challenge with the 'winning' image from each participant/artist

P.S. If the thumbnails are correct, Ctrl-clicking on them will open the original posting full size in a new window

P.P.S. vote for yourself if you want to - you're allowed an opinion on which was your own favourite [IMG]smileys/smiley2.gif" align="middle

P.P.P.S If I missed someone, please let me know

The template is here, now the counting and commenting

Gregja – 3 pts: 19
Gregja – 1 pt: 11
Gregja – Comments: like the compact presentation in square tiles. Gives an additional entry in an already good series. on the other hand, it's hard to pick a good one from the thumbnails. Have to click to each one I think is good. All in all a good challenge result afaic. Love the 135mm shots. 11 for the impression the shots makes, 19 for the intriguing blue color.

Snegren – 3 pts:9
Snegren – 1 pt:27
Snegren – Comments: Both 10mm and 75mm delivered great results. I'm not much in the swirling bokeh, but the flower shots are all cool&attractive. I picked one shot from each lens.

nandbytes – 3 pts:11
nandbytes – 1 pt:3
nandbytes – Comments: to follow

Dopol – 3 pts:3
Dopol – 1 pt:12
Dopol – Comments: The new Sony buget-85mm is marvelous

pegelli – 3 pts: 12
pegelli – 1 pt:

angora – 3 pts:21
angora – 1 pt:6

Fred_S – 3 pts:11

Macca – 3 pts: 6
Macca – 1 pt:21
Macca – Comments: (6)good set up, nice photo. (21) not for the photo but certainly for the subject

bigsi – 3 pts:30
bigsi – 1 pt:3
bigsi – Comments: great set. Good photos through all of the month. A very tough choice. Good landscapes, great portrait . . . And the others are good too.

onsplekkie – 3 pts:2
onsplekkie – 1 pt:9
onsplekkie – Comments: recognizable photos (=shooter has own style)

LAbernethy – 3 pts:9
LAbernethy – 1 pt:10
LAbernethy – Comments: (9) intriguing subject (10) love the eye of the cat

Mikey2000 - 3 pts:15
Mikey2000 - 1 pt:25
Mikey2000 - Comments: as always a great mix of very different shots. There are only 2 entries, 17,20,27 might have been selected as well.

MiPr – 3 pts: 3
MiPr – 1 pt:5
MiPr – Comments: outstanding portraits (how do you get people to endure this , great flowers and good cat shots too. Missing one with portrait, cat AND flowers. So I had to pick something else. (3) DoF (6)   macro.

thamarie – 3 pts: 25
thamarie – 1 pt:29
thamarie – Comments:it's hard to pick one of these. (25) The apple tree blossom has a fine color and OoF area. (29) And the last day of the daffodil looks very good too.

Bob J – 3 pts:14
Bob J – 1 pt:31
Bob J – Comments: The Wide-Angle certainly matches your style of shooting and processing. Some good examples of it this month. All in all a good month with the usual small things taking a central place.

greek_alpha – 3 pts:2
greek_alpha – 1 pt:16
greek_alpha – Comments: Finally fell for the temptation after Day 23? (2) as the best example of architectural/city-scapes in this month. And Day 16as best flower/blossom shot

rovhazman – 3 pts:16
rovhazman – 1 pt:22
rovhazman – Comments: (16)Such a simple composition, with so much to see. And 22 for its natural&obvious caption AND because I like it best from the family shots

darosa – 3 pts: 9
darosa – 1 pt:17
darosa – Comments: The usual unusual angles on the usual unusual subjects, creating an attractive thumbnail overview, that I cannot nominate. So I picked unusual subjects (not unusual for you of course).

For a successful technology reality has to take precedence over public relations, as nature cannot be fooled
The bitter taste of poor quality lingers much longer than the sweet smell of low prices

pegelli – Comments: A consistent quality over the whole month. Lots of different subjects well captured.

angora – 3 pts: 14

MiPr – Comments: The stunning macro shot gets the prize amongst some other great images.

thamarie – 3 pts: 29
thamarie – 1 pt: 15

Gregja – 3 pts: 23
Gregja – 1 pt: 21
Gregja – Comments: There is a consistent 'look and feel' to the whole set. That's something I never think about during my own shooting. In the end, #23 has a great balance of light to dark across the frame and the runner's pose is great - he looks so close to defeat but still determined. The Boxes photo is just strikingly unusual.

Snegren – 3 pts: 4
Snegren – 1 pt: 15
Snegren – Comments: A bokeh masterclass and also a whole load of wide angle fun.   The Bricks photo is outstanding (light, tones, perfect use of the UWA distortion) (#26 a close second for the same reasons). Picking a Bokeh favourite is harder though. The glasses just edge it for me - all those little bubbles!

nandbytes – 3 pts: 3
nandbytes – 1 pt: 4
nandbytes – Comments: A nicely mixed set with some standout B&W shots. (I nearly went for the mud huts or water wheel) The Stairs edge it for me. Perfect angle with light that is neither too hard or too soft.   I've been quietly following the UV flowers thread for some time. #4 is a great example

Dopol – 3 pts: 30
Dopol – 1 pt: 3
Dopol – Comments: clearly a versatile new lens for you. Not as many bokehlicious shots as expected but still choc-full of contenders. I love the feel of #30 and the minimalism of #3 stands out for me.

pegelli – 3 pts: 11
pegelli – 1 pt: 25
pegelli – Comments: A nicely varied set from landscape to architecture to macro and even a little bit of street! #11 for the fun compo (what did the opticians make of all that??!!) and 25 for the lines + contrast of grey drabness with spring blue sky.

angora – 3 pts: 27
angora – 1 pt:11
angora – Comments: A bokeh masterclass. #11 stands out immediately. 4 looks like a good picture but a little too dark so I choose #27 instead. The little ladybird is a nice bonus and completes the photo.

Fred_S – 3 pts:1
Fred_S – 1 pt:14
Fred_S – Comments: I would have chosen #23 but that was an event pass. 1 shows the distinctive character well and the OOF areas balance very well with the central compo. I'm not sure why but I keep coming back to 14 with the brick path. Unusual angle works well here

Macca – 3 pts:6
Macca – 1 pt:25
Macca – Comments: Lots of variety here. The nightmare of #6 is well staged and great lighting. I also liked 25 a lot the first time I saw it - the appeal is still there.

bigsi – 3 pts: 8
bigsi – 1 pt: 20
bigsi – Comments: Good set! Some 'signature' shots in here as well as a broad variety of other styles. I nearly included the horse jumping (9) and #4 for the PP but the mood of #8 wins. #20 is a fine doggy portrait

onsplekkie – 3 pts:14
onsplekkie – 1 pt:17
onsplekkie – Comments: very hard to pic. You worked that lens hard and well. #14 gets my vote for the simplicty and fun. Nice vintage look too. The delicacy of 17 works very well too - a very original flower pic

LAbernethy – 3 pts:24
LAbernethy – 1 pt:25
LAbernethy – Comments: #24 is a fine 'green' pic. It seems darkly mysterious for some reason with plenty of interest for such a simple subject. I just love the light in #25

Mikey2000 - 3 pts: 25
Mikey2000 - 1 pt:19
Mikey2000 - Comments: I was pleased to be able to drag so much colour out of the raw file from a distinctly blueish raw file. I was also pleased with #19 (it took a while to wait for the pose)

MiPr – 3 pts: 15
MiPr – 1 pt:20
MiPr – Comments: Hard to choose! the muted colours of #15 look great and the sunburst through the dark skies in 20 is very eye catching

thamarie – 3 pts:9
thamarie – 1 pt:1
thamarie – Comments: A fine floral presentaion! Some could be a bit brighter for my taste but in #9, the darker light for the leaf/droplet works well. The blue in #1 looks wonderful

Bob J – 3 pts:14
Bob J – 1 pt:13
Bob J – Comments: the social commentary in #14 (and pp) really work for me. So many foolishly fishy pics to choose from but 13 edges it for me. great compo and pp

greek_alpha – 3 pts: Day10
greek_alpha – 1 pt: Day18
greek_alpha – Comments: The B&W conversion and skyline works well in day 10. The dark fountain is an interesting take with unusually dark light for a fountain pic

rovhazman – 3 pts:14
rovhazman – 1 pt:5
rovhazman – Comments: I'm a sucker for Lonely Tree photos. 5 is a very cute moment

darosa – 3 pts:23
darosa – 1 pt:10
darosa – Comments: I don't need to look at the 'poster name' to guess who made this set. Very consistent - the thumbnail gallery looks very good when viewed on a big screen. (And a few splashes of the colour I've come to think of as "Leo Blue") #23 edges it for the sense of motion and 10 just looks great with all those opposing lines
