I'm 43 and in the very lucky position of not caring what I look like or what people think of me and never have, not even at school. It's probably because I was made to wear pink plastic framed glasses (free on our National Health Service (NHS)) until I was about 10 years old when I was allowed blue ones. I think any pride was teased out of me. Having said that I think it's made me a better and stronger person.

As has been said before, a genuine compliment is always nice to receive though.

Have you seen the strap supplied with the NEX5? I'm pretty sure it was an afterthought. It's thin, stiff and boringly blackish. I'm sure it will hold it's creases from being rolled up in the box until long after the camera body has died. I fitted it the day I received the camera but changed it the following day as it cut into my neck even with the 16mm pancake attached and whenever I turned my head the nylon weave pulled a few hairs out of my neck. A thoroughly negative experience.

I'm wondering if the guy is a Canon shooter and has the NEX and a Canon adaptor to use his many Canon lenses. There are a lot out there.

Having said all this I do think the photo is very funny and I actually consider him to be a style guru. Compared to me he is a fashion God. If there are any Red Dwarf fans out there I think you'll agree he is one Thermos short of a Dibbley
John.

Smile and develop a sense of humour. Life will be so much easier and make a lot more sense.

Not age related in my case. Unless you're going to sponsor me to advertise your brand I'll use whatever comes to hand. Much like that guy.

Maybe he lost his NEX strap. Maybe it never came with one. Maybe he prefers the Canon strap. Maybe he uses the Canon strap because he's used it for 25 years and its his "lucky strap". Maybe he's like me and did it just to upset Canon & Sony owners alike, like sticking a Chevy engine in a Mustang.

Who knows ? Only he does. But I bet he simply doesnt notice/care.

Is 27 too young to be considered of a certain age ? Cause I'll use whatever brand whatever on whatever. Pentax strap on the a200, Nikon lenscap on alpha-mount lenses, GM keychain on my Ford's keys...

I say if the strap (or any other accessory) is already available and fits, why not use it ! This guy probably has an EOS dslr, and likes the srap... simple as that
stuff for sale: Maxxum 5, x-700, 17-50/2.8, 100-200/4.5, Jupiter 21M, many Helios 44-2, and more. PM me

I have 44 years of age. I have ALWAYS been of a "certain age" since the moment I departed my mother's womb.

Re the man with the pink Alpha: He IS my fashion God. He evidently realizes that 99% of everything is immaterial (except Alpha photo gear).
Maxxum 450si, Sony A300, A700, A900 and a cubic meter of Alpha lenses

Is there another camera attached to the strap behind the Sony, looks like it is peeking out behind his left hand and the right hand is covering the end of the sony, with the strap end nowhere near it

31 in my case.

Your right, the NEX is not connected to any strap.

I think what you're looking at is the strap adjustment buckle. Unless its a compact the only thing that hides behind a NEX is another NEX.

I believe that he's using the canon strap to hold up his pants.

He's probably ashamed of his Levi belt.
