Haven't tried it yet, actually haven't really tried 10 yet but saw the e-mail notice for this and thought it was a free upgrade. It's not, but it's only 70 bucks so I'm sure it's worth it, I did d/l it to see if the old key worked and it won't so I guess I'll pay for this one.

Cool.

I am an old dog that finds new tricks very hard to learn.    BUT.... I really want to give Capture One a go to replace LR6. (I don't like the subscription idea, and I don't use PS at all) Also, in my one effort at doing a pic with C1, I was VERY pleased with the results, though overwhelmed by the very different controls and tools. It was also slow as molasses on my current 6yo PC.

I am having a new PC being built for me, once I have that, I will buy this new Pro 11 and give it a good go.

Most likely I will just get frustrated and to back to what I know.... but I will give it a try.

They have dropped "Pro" from the name. I upgraded Pro for Sony from 8 to 10. I haven't used the local adjustments yet so it doesn't sound like there is anything I need in this version (more lens profiles?) 10 has been reliable.

No they haven't. It's right there on the linked page: 'Capture One Express Sony is an award winning imaging editor for supported Sony cameras that comes with your Sony camera. Upgrade to Capture One Pro Sony 11 and get access to all the amazing features of Capture One Pro 11 for your Sony camera.'

Just like it was previously - an Express version for Sony, a Pro version for Sony, and a Pro version for all brands.

The updates might be marginal aside from layer/mask functions indeed. But I'm always interested to update for improved reliability of the program (also because I've had regressions of performance sometimes).

Since v10 works great on my PC, I don't know yet what to expect from v11. I'll take a look at the trial I guess.

@WestCoastCannuck: few people who had to use C1 after LR get used to it, but for me the reverse is true as well :D after a few years of using one software we have our expectations and reflexes... If you install C1 and have some questions don't hesitate to post them on the forum.

Well, i do not find the updates marginal, but real life advantages during the daily work.

Just the annotation part of it is so useful for a range of applications, fx. the photoclub, the dialog about and retouching of prof photos, for instructions, for instructional use in learning/elearning, management systems....yea.

The one stop shopping is getting better.....but ....still not in any reach within the possibilities of good old Aperture.

What I found when I updated from v9 to v10 were more features (ofc), smoother UI and much faster speed of rendering (to JPG, TIFF, PNG).
Perhaps, I will try v11 soon.

I tried C1 for Sony in the past, I don't find it that different from LR once you set your default settings right (I personally think the standard sharpening settings is too high on C1 by example) and I like the different flavors C1 offers.
After the last Adobe move for LR, I'm also considering dropping the Adobe products and C1 is a great alternative, as well as Affinity Photo.

.

Yesh, I like it a lot more after changing the default sharpening. It really does feel snappier to work with than DXO and I tend to jump between DXO 10 elite and C1 (now 11) express.

When previewing images before importing with v11 can you now view a single image and then magnify it? You can't with v10, largest thumbnails I get is a 4 square of them. With Lr you can view either thumbnails or single images and then zoom in, lately I've been doing a lot of culling before importing and with COP you're limited to what you can see in detail and that's what I need to see with those water drop shots.

Not sure I understand your question in the way presented. C1P10 can magnify single or multiple previews simultaneously. At least my copy can.

Aside from missing the Dehaze FX tool from ACR, my only issue with C1P10 is that the shadow and highlight sliders only work one way to relieve them both. ACR sliders can relieve or accentuate shadows and highlights because the sliders go both ways.

I certainly do love the OOC color and sharpness much better in C1P10 though. Blues and skin tones seem much more accurate. Also when blowing out white studio background, C1P10 gives me the desired 255 right out of camera. Same file in ACR reads 230-ish, and I always have to bring the white up, which causes fine detail hair to get brittle and broken.

Totally agree with Pako.
I still am trying with the levers of sharpness to find the best match as a default setting. Meanwhile, I've set it all to 0 (except for the treshold which stops at 0.2). I don't know which lever alters what, I just experiment.
The same goes for noise reduction. If you alter the default (for a7r2 in my case) to 0, then you'll have some noise on dark parts of the image, so I've set it to 30 (all).
I will gladly accept any advice/help on these matters.
