Yes to the A77. I actually pre-ordered it but then cancelled. Gear lust got the better of me. I'm now waiting for the reviews, a price drop next year and I haven't decided yet whether to keep the A700.

I do a lot of printing at A3 size and I dont know wehether 24mp will make any difference to print quality at that size over the 12mp A700, so I'm thinking of sticking with my A700 for a while longer. Decisions, decisions.

I've ticked the 'upgrading from A700' option which is true but only half the story.

I would have really liked an option for 'purchasing to compliment my A900'

My A700 was purely a backup which I felt a necessity when shooting weddings, but except where I'd rather not risk the A900, there are no circumstances where I consider the A700 the better choice.

Dad will get a free upgrade from A100 to A700 and the A77 will take the role of backup.
But I also expect to use the A77 a lot more in tandem with the A900.

So very roughly, maybe:

portraits A900
landscape A900
buildings A900
flowers   A900
macro     A77
wildlife A77
action    A77
manual focus lenses A77
weddings A900 and A77 together
low light ???; I'm awaiting further results

I will keep my A900 and will replaced my A580 for the A77 for all what is new but mainly for the manual FF and BF adjustments like in the A900, this is major for bird picktures.

Well, I travel with both the 850 and the 700 and the 700 just never gets used, even when I make conscious effort. Because of this the 77 isn't likely to be a part of my kit so I voted "no." I'm interested in the next lineup of FF though.

I like my A700. I use it as a backup for my A850 and A900. When it dies, I would use my A850 as a backup for the A900. I would not consider an A77 because I prefer FF over cropped frame. However, I would seriously consider the A99 or an A85 when they come out.

I voted no. I've got an A850. I'll keep that for outdoor work and I've picked up a NEX 5N for indoor work and shots that would benefit from live view. From what I've seen the high ISO on the 5N is better than the rest of the SONY cameras by at least 1 1/2 stops and maybe more. Hopefully by the time the A99 comes out it will be a clear replacement for my A850.

Regards
John

I voted for "Yes, upgrading from a700", although as Peekayoh said - I am not upgrading (I still keep my A700) and not downgrading (still keep my A900). But I believe the A77 will mainly take time from the A700. I might eventually sell my A700, but not now.
Anyway, I hope the A77 will take me to different places that my current set-up does not allow (video, LV, better AF and better tracking, peaking, higher ISO).

Considering the purchase. I want something that can maintain a good focus for fast-action sports like football but I'm still keeping my A850, A700, 7D & 5D. I want to see what others say about the production camera but it sure looks inviting!

My first DSLR was the A100, which I used for 2-3 years. Then I bought the A700 the day it was released and used it for 4 years. I loved it! Now I've sold it to raise funds and expect to buy the A77 the day it is released. If I love it as much as I loved the A700 I will be extremely happy!

I'm also considering buying the a77 for it's fps and fast AF since I shoot a lot of sports. I will keep one of my a700's to partner the a77 though. I've been more than happy with my a700 but I will give the new SLT a chance to prove itself in my sports/action photography. Who knows, maybe I'll even give filming a chance and I'll maybe like it

I checked Upgrading from A700; hopefully A77 will now be my A mount sports/action camera. I'll keep my A900 for all FF applications.
That EVF better be very good as the 77 will also be competeing with my Canon gear. I'll post a comparison of the 77 and the Canon 7D when I've had time to evaluate them side by side. Have two sets of lenses to use for this: the Minolta 70-200 G Vs. the new Canon 70-200/2.8 L; and the Canonn 100-400 L Vs. Sony 70-400 G. Should be interesting.

I will replace my a350 with the a77, but I want to hold it and judge it for myself before I commit to it. Here in Canada it’s going to be pricy at $2150(kit) plus 12% in taxes. Price is starting to weigh on me and when that happens every little flaw looks bigger than it is. Right now the only thing I wish they did different was a smaller sensor.

I have pre-ordered it to replace my broken A700. It will be used side by side with my A580. A77 mainly with 70-400G for animals, A580 in parallel for landscape. If A77 proves to be good enough, I will become my universal camera that is fitted to the most used lens.

I have thought about it, but decided against it. I am still satisfied with the a 850 and since I have invested in the CZ 16-35 and 24-70 I think I will wait and save up some money for one of the new FF cameras. I am tempted by one of the new NEX cameras, though.
