As time goes by, i am getting more and more fun out of the A77.
Since i got the A77 my A700 haven't been used for anything real except to make comparison and pixel peeping.
A77 is by no mean perfect, but it gives pleasures in use and delivers in quality if you expose correct.
Further, i haven't expected so much use of video as i actually use/shoot. Great accessibility of video, easy, and good output.
(but i hate that Apple don't support AVCHD2.0 50 frames per second !)

Can anyone comment on the color rendition differences between the a77 and a850/900 with Zeiss lenses?

As most of the Minolta lenses seem to designed to last several lifetimes (with an occasional aperture cleaning now and then) , it makes sense to keep them in the family for generations :).

Not sure I can be too much help.
I only have the one ZA and I haven't actually compared like for like.
I'd say though that the 77 renders a bit cooler than the 900.

Hello everyone! First post here in the forum and I'm the proud owner of a Sony a77 w/ 16-50mm F2.8 kit lens I purchased on 30 Jan 2012. This is my first DSLR (SLT) camera as I'm coming from simply point and shoots and I guess that puts me in the minority here for the poll since this is obviously my first ever alpha. I had been looking for months and am really glad I decided on the a77! It's a phenomenal camera and I very much enjoy shooting with it. The video is incredible for a still camera. I'm looking forward to pairing my a77 with a 70-300G or 70-400G soon. I look forward to chatting with you all and learning and contributing as much as I can.

An excellent choice. I've never regretted it since buying my first Minolta 5D

Missed my FedEx driver today and will have to wait until tomorrow to get my new baby. I shot a Maxxum 9000 for a long time, got a couple P&S cameras for digital and then got a Canon G10 that I was happy with, mostly, until I dunked it in the ocean on a recent trip to Thailand.

Decided that it was time to put all those lenses I had for the 9000 to good use and got an a77. I am playing hooky from work tomorrow so I don't miss the FedEx delivery again. Kind of feels like Christmas -- I hope I can sleep tonight.

If I broke or lost my camera today I would look into the a77. But I have a nice camera slt55 and I don't think the added proformance of the a77 warrents an upgrade at the current price. Sounds like I will need an accident at sea to get an a77.

Got my new a77 a few days ago. It is just amazing how advanced this camera is over my previous KM 7D. I have been waiting for quite some time to make this jump, but Sony just wasn't making the package I have been waiting for. Hopefully this is it. My 7D was getting bad with the first-frame-black syndrome.

Bought the A77 earlier this week. Local camera store called as they had one come into stock with the 16-50 'kit' lens. I just bought the body in the end as I'm happy enough with my good copy of a Zeiss 16-80 lens. I've noticed several 16-50 lenses for sale in the usual places in UK.

I've not used it in anger yet so just comparing back to back with my A700. I'm impressed with it on both my 70-300 G and 70-400 G lenses especially after some slight MFA on both lenses. I live in an area with a lot of air shows nearby so I'm looking forward to the 'new season'. I'll also be able to trial it properly next weekend at the next rugby game I attend.

More impressive is the performance of my old Tokina 24-70 2.6-2.8 ATX Pro. It was never that great on the A700 for some reason so contemplated selling it but it's been a revelation on the A77.

When I was collecting the A77 I noticed they had around 10 Nex 7s in stock too (just in on the same delivery) I had a play with it and it is truly lovely to use. Very impressed.
