CYC 2018
Voting Thread

This is the voting thread for the exhibition.
Please use this thread to vote for your favourite entries of each participant in the Thumbnail thread!

Voting will be open for 'long enough'

We encourage everyone to add comments as well, but on the line following your votes - please keep it within the format to make counting easier.
And please do not respond to comments directly in this thread! Keep using the Talk Thread for that purpose.

What should you do now?

1) Go to the Thumbnail thread.
2) For each participant, pick your favourites. Please use the number to the left or above the photo in the thumbnails. If there are no numbers, please do the maths yourself.
3) Post your votes here. You can award up to two photos by assigning 3 points to the one you like best and 1 point to the second one. You can award only one photo if you like; in that case give either 3 points or 1 point to that photo. Copy the template from below, give your votes and please stick to the format:
username1: 3pts: image number
username1: 1pt: image number
Comments: add your comment here

username2: 3pts: image number
username2: 1pt: image number
Comments: add your comment here
.
.
.
etc
4) Feel free to add comments, but please keep to the format!
5) Feel free to reply to the comments people give you, but please do it in the Talk Thread
6) Have fun!

Thank you for voting!
At the end of this, we'll count all the votes and have a great exhibition from the challenge with the 'winning' image from each participant/artist

P.S. If the thumbnails are correct, Ctrl-clicking on them will open the original posting full size in a new window

P.P.S. vote for yourself if you want to - you're allowed an opinion on which was your own favourite

P.P.P.S If I missed someone (or included someone who shouldn't be included), please let me know

No further comments, as I've posted those in the talk thread, other than to say it has been most enjoyable participating and seeing the diverse offerings, and thanks again to Mike for organising it all.

Comment: I like the greys and then the introductions of the splashes of strong colour.

Comment: I like the scale and colour brought by the matchbox – which, although modern, has a kind of nostalgic 50s feel to it.

Comment: 6 is quite possibly my favourite shot of the challenge – fantastic tones, and a real feeling of different textures and hardness.

Comment: This brings back nostalgia (and maybe a bit of guilt for not having broken the bike out of the shed since last summer); nice use of near-symmetry.

Comment: A good eye for abstract, I like the well controlled lighting throughout your series and the selective focus added more interest.

    Jozioau 3pt: 7
    Jozioau 1pt: 1
Comment: What a gem of a camera and a great subject. The match box adds a nice bit of scale, I guess the camera was designed to be pocketable?

    LAbernethy 3pt: 6
    LAbernethy 1pt: 7
Comment: Just love 6, all white with lots of shapes and textures. I like the way you brought in other subjects to compliment the simple shape of the egg.

Comment: Love the detail shots but that sunset is something special, excellent photo.

Comment: Your ability to make a challenging subject into an interesting series of photos shows how creative you really are! Super set.

    MiPr 3pt: 5
    MiPr 1pt: 7
Comment: A very simple and elegant subject, love the fisheye portrait, (despite what it did to your nose!), and I'm a sucker for the low key abstract in the last.

    bigsi 3pt: 4
    bigsi 1pt: 6
Comment: Compared to most other subjects mine was easy. A big thanks to Freyja for putting up with me!

    pegelli 3pt: 6
    pegelli 1pt: 3
Comment: Another beautiful instrument, I especially like the brass on red in 3 and 5 but love the humour in 6.

    minolta_mutley 1pt: 5
Comment: Glass is so tricky to light well and you've done a good job here, I liked the blue and white in 1 and the well caught selfie in 5.

    Fred_S 3pt: 1
    Fred_S 1pt: 5
Comment: I really like the simplicity of 1, the b/w conversion is great, and 5 works for me too, a nice bit of abstract.

    Myst 3pt: 2

Comment: Now that was a challenge, well done for sticking at it. It probably helps that you live in a beautiful part of the world!

    ktrucke 3pt: 5
    ktrucke 1pt: 6
Comment: When you started playing around with light it really brought the geode to life, I really thought this was one of the most challenging subjects of all, really well done!

    Robbie 3pt: 5
    Robbie 1pt: 6
Comment: Another challenging subject well covered, when you introduced movement it really lifted the series in my eyes, nice work.

    rovhazman 3pt: 4
    rovhazman 1pt: 3
Comment: A rare record indeed, does not exist on Spotify! I liked the framing on 3, its almost like the cover was designed for the day 4 photo, super shot.

Comment:A nice slow reveal.   Great to see a household object studied in such close detail and the whole set has a good consistent look

Comment:A classically simple subject that let you really go to town with all kinds of different lighting styles. A most interesting and varied set!

Comment:#5 is a clear winner for me - superb sunset colours. The contrasty look to #2 works for me as well.

Comment:I had the idea for #6 before I even had the cup 'chosen' for me. #4 was actually an empty cup with a totally photoshop homemade rainbow soup, complete with added ripples, shadows, reflections and a bit of steam

Comment:Most entertaining selfie for #5 and the abstractness of #7 caught my eye too.

Comment:Another very photogenic item. #5 for the simplicity and #6 for the sheer humour. Love the hair!

Comment:A very 'different' kind of bottle altogehter. #1 for the lighting and reflections. Same reason for the closeup abstract of #5

Comment:The stump contains plenty of close up details but for me, it's the pics with the human element that work the best.

Comment:A fine geological artifact. It seems it lends itself well to different lighting styles. Who would have thought 6 and 7 were photos of the same thing - they are so different...

Comment:The human element of #6 brings the Tram Stop to life (nice motion too!) The motion in #5 is very eyecatching too. Full marks for such a challenging subject. And Bonus Points for using a different lens every day.

Comment:#4 is so witty! I still love the simplicity of #3

Comment:Some good fun pics as well as some serious creative effort - truly in the CYC spirit.   The set hangs together very well too.
