hmmmm....here's my guess:

due to the larger LCD there was less room for the button, so they were crammed in right next to the LCD.

if you look at the buttons to the camera bottom, it looks like a 45 degree turn right next to the right side of the buttons.

this was a good thread! kudos to the OP for that photo,proving once again that the best camera/settings is the one you have!

I got an idea to why the buttons are moved closer to the screen than the first prototypes of "A900".

Maybe they are gonna act like some sort of softbotton, referring to some texs or "button on the screen, when viewing photos or going through the menu?

wait...

it looks different than the A900 prototype.
- the buttons on the left side of LCD screen
- the body shape on the left side is more boxy

could it be another camera?

LOL. I have to say, that I wish someone more competent could have taken this picture. I kind of feel like a sasquatch spotter. Blurred photo and all.

I did not see this gentleman actually use the camera. Looking at online pictures of the mockups, the big change does seem to be the left hand row of buttons, and the angle of the rear ports. The mockups seem to be more round, a la A700.

But another giveaway is the angle (or lack of angle of the left hand mode dial). It is flat, i.e. right angled, like the mockup, not angled askew like any of the current Sony dSLR's.


I didn't get to see the top LCD though. Dang.

Look this comparation...

The camera looked in Canada I think is diferent...



The left side of the LCD this camera has a angle near the bottons, but the other model (prototipe) looked donīt.

Hey, D700 is $3000 .   Woohoo.   I no longer think the A900 will be $3500, I'm going with 3k tops. Thank you nikon.

Personally I think it is the EXACT SAME camera, angle and light tends to play a lot in perspective, and when comparing all the buttons, measurements between the two, same cam.

Since we've mentioned CSI, I wouldn't give a job to either of you guys! that 'yellow' sticker isn't yellow at all! If you look closely you can see it's reflecting the grass like the side of the lens (which isn't yellow or green either). It's most probable that the sticker is grey or thin white. The red one is red however!
