    Posted: 05 December 2018 at 18:55
Hi

I wonder if anyone knows if there is an adaptor/converter from the old Sony/Minolta hot shoe to the new hot shoe.

I have a flash (56AM) with the old hot shoe, that I'd like to try on the a99ii (with the new hot shoe).

Any advice gratefully received

Thank you :)

Bridget

Look for the Sony ADP-MAA hot shoe adapter, the a99 shipped with one in the box but they 'forgot' to include them with the a99II.

https://www.sony.com/electronics/interchangeable-lens-cameras-other-accessories/adp-maa#product_details_legacy_default

Vello also makes an adapter, from what I see they're both about the same price and the Vello might be easier to find.

B&H sells the Sony for $22, it looked like you can get then down to $17 on eBay.

Thank you very much for that.

Sadly I live in the UK, so £28 is as low as it gets ...
Everything is dear here !

I also need the adaptor for some work I'm doing, otherwise I'd place an international order (no taxes to pay on $17)

Thanks again for looking that up
Very kind !

Bridget

A few years ago I bought one like this from China. It now sells for $13. It works fine, but doesn't look as nice as the Sony.

Actually, this is the Vello adapter you want:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1119908-REG/vello_hsa_csmsa_multi_interface_to_sony_minolta.html

The B&H link above takes you to adapter that converts Sony shoe to a "standard" shoe, not the old Minolta mount.
It's never too late to have a happy childhood.

Thanks so much for all the messages :)

I bought one from eBay sent from the UK. Hopefully I'll have it by Saturday and can have a practice with the flash on the camera.

Whoops, thanks for the correction, glad she didn't order the wrong one.

Or you can getthis flash for peanuts and it brings two adapters. And it's small enough to fit in any pocket and just powerful enough to short range photography.
Don't think, Just click it!!

That looks good.

A flash with 2 adaptors for the same price as the adaptor !
I didn't do my research well enough.

I'll certainly look into this for next year.

Thanks everyone for all your kind help
I feel quite 'bowled over' by it.

Happy Christmas :)
