The one thing that looks legit about this is the A500 picture. Still small-ish grip. No video. Boourns.

Sanjuro, I doubt the price can remain long on that level given the street prices of the A900 here.

Only Memory Sticks and SD-cards can be used in the a500?

At €2000,- (according to that link) the A850 is not exactly at a much different price point than the A900 street price...

The link you provided gives an explanation where the specs came from ("an insider...") and adds little else. For the A500 it talks about an Exmor-CMOS sensor but not about an Exmor-R-CMOS sensor. We'll soon find out.
Edit: Oops - I replied to a message that seems to have been removed? The link mentioned in that message was this one. Edited by Maurus - 24 August 2009 at 12:57 |

Description tells only "C-MOS". Could mean new sensor or not ;o) Also it has Quick-AF LV with 3" LCD. Could mean it is not tilting like 3x0 series. Plus 14x magnification option in LV for better MF... |

At a good price the A500 should be competitive with Nikon D5000 as a DSLR.
But it is not going to convince too many even occasional photographers to change brands or to consider buying a Sony as their first SLR. At first glance it is a not very exciting but solid ( perhaps that should be stolid ? ) commercial product. Thats my glass half empty statement. Here's hoping that it does actually produce a decent 1600 and 3200 and a usable 6400. Thats my glass half full statement.

it says the a500 has 5fps, built-in HDR function, double LiveView and face detection
a850 seems to be the same as the manual leaked earlier! Edited by samjackson - 24 August 2009 at 13:40 |
