OMG, I just got back from a Craigslist meetup with a guy who had to sell his Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 SSM lens. Felt bad taking it at the price, $1,000, but he needed to sell it to buy Christmas presents. It is flawless, here's hoping for good weather tomorrow to try this baby out outside. Early Christmas present for me.

Recently got a almost like brand new A300 with kit lens and almost everything in the box for $150.
I should check the file number to determine how many pics were taken, I would assume it should be less than 10,000. |

A57 + Tokina 11-16mm F/2.8 for 550 euros. Let's see if the IQ is that much better as my A700. First tests don't blow me away though.

Minolta 50 1.4 RS for Eur 175. Not cheap, but rare here. Could try and pick
it up locally, which made the difference for me. This sample is sharp and worth the extra money for me over a 50 1.7 |

I bought 3 lenses from the same evilBay seller in Switzerland which comprised of:
Minolta AF 24-85mm F/3.5-4.5 Minolta AF 28-135mm F/4-4.5 Macro (Secret Handshake) Sigma AF 28-70mm F/2.8 EX Aspherical DF The vendor threw in two surprise freebies . . a Minolta AF 35-105mm F/3.5-4.5 Macro (which has some mold on the edge of one of the elements - about 10%) and a bar of Cognac chocolate liqueur, and I got a reduced combined shipping rate on the lot which earned me a CHF 50.00 (about £30.00) refund . . hah! The 35-105mm (mold aside) is exemplary (as are all the lenses). And did I pay Customs Duty . . Hell no! Why? He posted the parcel from Germany which is in the EU. Sorted! I paid £13.85 for the Min AF 24-85mm and it sold on evilBay today for £64.00 (gross) + £9.95 postage starting at 99p (no reserve). Not a bad return on my investment for one lens eh? The Minolta AF 35-105mm Macro will also sell on evilBay (currently at £26.00), so is a multi-thousand % profit return on a zero cost investment, so beat that if you can. Well, I won my auctions fair and square and I didn't ask others to bid when re-listed, so market forces dictate. Free market economy or something. Edited by Pirate - 31 December 2012 at 15:41 |

I just bagged me a brand new Sony 16-50 2.8 lens split from an a77 set that someone bought at Christmas. I paid EUR 350- as good as brand new.
The guy who sold it through an online classified told me that he thought for the extra he paid for the set, that the zoom would be longer. He was disappointed that the shop assistant had told him it was one of the best lenses available and sold him it without a demo- when all that he actually wanted to do with the money was to buy himself a Tamron travel zoom. I'm not complaining, but i think he'd have been better advised to get an all in one mega-zoom bridge camera. I wish I actually had a 28-200 Vivitar or something similar. I reckon I could have done a straight swap

It does amuse me the anger posts about any over priced items on ebay, and then the bragging about the under priced 'bargains' that are nabbed. In some cases it's bordering on embarrassing. I know the adage 'What you don't know can't hurt you' comes into play but it is a shame that us humans take advantage of one another in this way.
This isn't in response to any specific person or post - and I'm certainly not going to look a gift horse in the mouth myself either (take my highlighting of the Jackobs administration clear out) - but this thread can be a bit of a depressing read on humanity. Maybe I'm just being too philosophical at the end of 2012... I'll shut my cake hole now .

Just found a new A37 body at clearance price of €280. I have a A580 but like the extra portability of the small SLTs and the superior video function.
