Does anyone have information on the new Minolta Digital Camera business that is selling the Minolta branded MN35Z digital camera with a 1/2.3 CMOS sensor?

I see that these cameras are being sold on Amazon, eBay, Cameta Camera, and other retailers. Cameta Camera has a Minolta store with the old Minolta logo and lists a number of digital cameras with the Minolta name. They say its a USA product but I've seen on other sites that they're made in China.

I'd like to know if Minolta is back in business with this new line of digital cameras. If so, these new cameras do not look like they would be on par with the original Minolta camera brand.

Best regards,
Dave

Hmmm ... news to me.

Cameta Camera has a Minolta store with the old Minolta logo and lists a number of digital cameras with the Minolta name. They say its a USA product but I've seen on other sites that they're made in China.

'Brand New USA' probably means there's a US warranty.

... these new cameras do not look like they would be on par with the original Minolta camera brand.

Not everything Minolta made - especially in later years - was top notch. If the brand is in fact somehow returning (and is somehow different from Konica Minolta), maybe it's under new management and it's necessary to keep it simple.

Little Googling reveals that it is Elite Brands Inc. that has licenced Minolta brand to be used in some camera products. Looks like they also use different logo than what KonicaMinolta (and before the merger Minolta) uses.

^ Good find. So yes, the brand is back ... though much scaled down in stature.

Konica-Minolta's website states that they manufacture lenses for ILCs here.

I wonder who they manufacture lenses for?

I don't know about that manufacturing lenses for ILCs......

If you look at the photo of the lenses on that site, you'll recognize all of the lenses to be legacy Minolta lenses. I don't see anything NEW in that photo.

Scroll down to the next page ; https://www.konicaminolta.com/opt/products/dsc/index.html

They never stopped making lenses , mainly for point and shoot , possibly Panasonic was a big customer , I can't quite remember who , but if your interested do a search .Is was discussed on the Konica Minolta forum on DPR .

A year or two back they filed a patent for some interchangable lenses ( m4/3rd lenses , IIRC), exact details were discussed also on DPR if you do a search there .

I thought they made lenses for Sony, though I can't offer any evidence to confirm it. They certainly made lenses for JVC, as they appeared on at least one JVC video camera.
