Thank you and thank you. I will move on, probably going for the basics now.

Bert, the first is close to 1:1 and the second clearly beyond. Great effort, nice pictures and a pass!

Just beyond 1:1 on the sensor so a pass for you Obelix.
I also like how the structure of the Agate was brought out by the light.

How about the tail side of a US penny, with hand-held side-lighting to bring out the figure of Lincoln in the depiction of the Lincoln Monument:

A900, 28/2.8 with 48mm of extension tubes @ f/4.5, 1.6 seconds.

As closely as I can measure it, before straightening the shot has about 14mm of penny covering the 24mm height of the frame, for about 1.7:1 reproduction ratio.

Though it has a bit less character, a newer penny is enough cleaner to support an even higher reproduction ratio:

A900, 28/2.8 with 68mm of extension tubes @ f/10, 1 second.

This time the reproduction ratio works out to about 2.3:1. Even though I cropped it to 1.25:1 aspect ratio, the corners are no longer particularly clean...

Those are passes jcoffin, good use of "cheap" materials to get a macro shot w/o macro. Also like how you brought out the texture in both, even though they're both very different.

My first assignment
I know that needle is already here but it was left on my table so I worked with it. If it is a problem maybe I’ll put the first one to ROT or leading lines
I used this equipment

The reason was clear as my other lenses will not pass the rules – macros and Tammy 1:2, the best thing was that the kit 18-55 mm lens perfectly fit to 70-300 mm USD Tamron - fixing with tape was quite easy. So here are the results.

#1 Eye of the needle

ISO 100, 210 mm, F 11, 6 sec, no crop only WB, lights and shadows and vignetting adjustment, ratio 5,2:1

#2 As close as possible

ISO 100, 300 mm, F9, 20 sec, no crop, only WB and +0,5 exposure.
If I calculated well it is 11-12:1?!? as the whole eye is cca 3 mm and the "hole" is cca 1,5 mm – you can check it on http://www.zonerama.com/Profile/7389 } but it’s done with macro lens, so I didn’t want to brake all the rules just in the first assignment.

PS. As a lot of participants of this nice work already mentioned it is really big fun but personally thanks for something what would never cross my mind and I know when spring comes I’ll experiment with this in the fields.

I don't have high expectations to pass with this, as I more or less only tried to get a somewhat focused image done:

It is a bit more than 5:1. With this setting, I was able to capture a tiny bit less than 7mm over the width of my FF sensor (A850):

Both show full, uncropped images and were taken with this setup:
Bellows extended to 155mm
Minolta 18-70mm lens reversed, set to ~40mm FL and infinity.
Exposures: top image 0.5", f/~7 or 8, bottom image 1", f/~16.
ISO 3200, halogen desk lamp, off JPEG without PP except for resizing.

The main subject is an MC Rokkor PF 55/1.7. The OKKO of ROKKOR is shown, and in spite of the light direction from above, the letters look raised, not engraved.

Arno

A definite pass.

The lettering on the Rokkor is intriguing.

Off you go to your next assignment.
