I have also hidden your submissions in Foreground interest and symmetry. You can only do one assignment at a time and only move to another one after completing the one you started (see the rules). We'll deal with those submissions once you have passed Low Key.

Missed this rule, apologies. Lets focus on low-key then...

[cut]

I did not had time to go out and take some new photos yet, unfortunately. But working on my friends commission back from December I found two which I think fit the bill.
My pror submission was from January shoot so I understand that I need to shoot new one to pass this assignment. In the meantime, I would be grateful for feedback to know if I'm on good track.

There was slight PP - conversion to B&W, WB, slight play with levels (light up shadows) and slight crop.

Probably a matter of taste, but I might have brightened the outline of the guitarist a bit stronger. Now it's all very dark.

The man in the pub works well, except for the very distracting and bright sign above his head.

And as you said yourself, no pass because you've mined

Finally managed to take time to search for Low Key photo opportunity. This is a statue from HK airport. There was 2 spots hence highlights.
There is slight PP including cut from the left, exposure is original.

That's a pass LKB, nice dark but still a bit of contrast and a less overwhelming highlight

I've previously contributed an image which passed, but I'd like confirmation that one fits the requirements, and if not, why not. Thanks for any input.

I think it's borderline JS, especially the larger light reflection in the bottom right corner spoils it for me as a pure LK image.

Fresh tar on old ship. The tar had a glance in the sun.
It is very close, to reality.

I think the idea is very good Willem, but I find the black/dark parts of the image too grey. I checked in Photoshop and they're all around 20 or so so for a real low key impact it should be more dramatically black. So pls. try again.

So I was shooting a gig tonight, and noticed that stage lights created almost perfect "low key" ambient for me to take a picture for this assignment. First one is presented with next to none PP (some sharpening and aprox. -100K of WB), second one was converted to B/W, cropped a tad from the left and some minor contrast/clarity adjustment were made.
Both shot with SAL50F14 f/1.6 1/100, ISO 800

I hope these will earn me a pass, I have some pictures from tonight that were meant to be used as an entries for other assignments.

NightQuest, I think they are close but not quite. In the first I find the light areas too large and form a distraction to the dramatic outline we're trying to get in LK shots. In the second the darks are a bit too muddy and and greay. So pls. try again.
