I'm curious to see how many members are pros. For purposes of this poll, I suggest a very simple definition of a pro: If they accept money from clients for shoots or sell their pics online via stock or other options.

Any interest in creating such a poll?
We don't have that many polls, anyway, and they spice things up!

Maybe it needs to be their entire or main source of income?

Or do it as a multiple choice poll .
Those that make 100% income from photography , 75% , 50% , 25% , less than 10% or " 0% , I do it for fun !"

I think it'd have to be multiple choice.
I make a little additional money selling prints, downloads and shooting for clients. But this is dwarfed by my day job. I wouldn't call myself a professional

Yeah, that sounds reasonable. What % of your income is from photography?

Me ? I'd go for the last option .
I'm a gardener by trade , though I have done some photography as commissioned work .
I've also sold quite a few landscape shots and supplied all the photo's For a book of poetry , about 40 or 50 in that , with another in the pipeline .
I've also done some work with a friend and been paid in beer and food , but it would have been cheaper for her to pay me in cash !

So as any money I've earned has gone straight back into getting more film or gear that I otherwise wouldn't have got it's added nothing to my income as such.

I'm a 100% amateur photographer doing what I do as a hobby and just for fun .
But if someone want's to buy something , I'll certainly consider it .

Why not : Have you ever sold a photograph for value?

That covers the difference between amateurs, dilettantes and blushing roses like me, and the proud, the enterprising and self-confident others
