If the X-100 is indication (which probably it is), this is going to be a great camera! Sony is really unfortunate here - they were the first to come with high-end mirrorless camera, but because of natural disaster they couldn't supply it. By the time the production is fully back, Fuji cameras will be already out and will be more appealing for many.

Looking at the specs, it doesn't look better than NEX-7, besides some mysterious buzz words.
I would like to see photos taken with it - that would tell whether the statement "new CMOS sensor called the X-Trans CMOSTM. The X-Trans CMOSTM sensor is capable of delivering resolution that is parallel, if not superior, to a full frame sensor" has its grounds.
The same goes for the lenses - are they really great? We'll have to see.

I found some sample photos:

Not that impressive... But I wouldn't judge from that.

that looks N I C E . maybe i should've waited before buying a NEX 5...
on the other hand, while the NEX 7 costs a small fortune, this baby will probably cost a big fortune. but if they do resolve the issues of the X100 it's gonna be a very attractive camera for those who can afford it.

CFA part seems very interesting, camera itself seems bit plasticky cheap and design is.. well it looks wierd, especially compared to M9.

Even tho Im not fan of NEX-7, it does look a lot better than X Pro.

Time will tell if that special CFA will be able to deliver or not. Samples are nothing special (rather opposite).

It's so big... but at least it accepts a traditional cable release.

That's getting into "red dot" territory, I hope they make it more affordable than that.
I still like the Nex-7 with adaptor better.

I dont know where you buy your Leica's, but I'd love to know where you can get an M9 for that kind of price! ;-)

I thought the price was a pleasant surprise! It's no more than a mid range SLR and lens, and compares favourably with an NEX-7 and the e-mount 24mm. It will be very interesting to see what the image quality and resolution are like. At least Fuji understand what lenses people will be looking for - something Sony seems to have somewhat bungled with NEX.

Sony are unfortunate for several reasons:

1) The Thailand disaster - very sad and certainly unfortunate.

2) They are just too slow in bringing a full enough system to market. The choice of lenses to date is unremarkable considering Sony's industrial muscle (like alpha?).

3) The bulky silver lenses are not great for a compact system camera. The silver look is not nearly as appealing (to me at least) as the black (both Fuji and Sigma went with black). The 16/2.8 is the only lens in the system which is on a scale with the camera (shame it's not black).

The NEX 7 is going to have to be cheaper and there are going to have to be more compact, fast primes for it to achieve it's full potential.
