Pic-a-Song

Challenge for February 2012

A chance to be creative with images inspired by song titles

  • Day 1: We'll give you 10 different song titles.
You have two weeks in which to plan, take and post your images that are inspired by those titles.
There will be a thread for each song title, and you post a single shot for 5, 7 or even all 10 titles, some time within the two weeks.
  • Day 15: We'll give you another 10 titles, and you have another two weeks to produce images inspired by those new ones

Feel free to be inspired by the song title in any way you choose; literally, figuratively, emotionally etc
Perhaps it's a line within the song or the story itself - tell us when you post so we can all share your vision and inspiration!
Just paint a picture and tell a story with your image that somehow ties in with the title

  • Just one image per title
  • Complete freedom of how you take or process the image; the aim is to illustrate the song title - how you do that is up to you!
  • You are free to use both A-mount and E-mount (NEX) equipment
  • Please ensure you enclose EXIF data in the posting and especially the camera type for this Challenge
  • Optionally impose other restrictions on yourself to make it more challenging if you want, and list these when you sign up restricting lens, crop, processing etc

You are expected to comment on the photographs posted by others as this is a valuable part of the challenge for everyone.
This may be the most important rule of all, but the degree of commenting will vary right up to a few stars who will comment on every image.
Do what you're able, but the more the better and everyone's opinion counts - just remember the aim to be encouraging and helpful, even if critical.

Within the 'challenges' section of the forum, there will be:

  • A thread for each song title
  • An outtakes thread for extra images that don't make it as your main selection
  • A talk thread for comments, feedback and general chatter
  • A thumbnails thread where all participants should post thumbnails of their photos linked to the posts containing big versions
  • A voting thread so between us we can pick our favourites from the challenge to display in a gallery

This challenge is for everyone! Everyone will learn something and everyone can enjoy it.

If you have not joined before and do not fully understand the guidelines, do not worry.
You will understand when you see - just sign up and ask as many questions as you want

So who's going to join us?

it is cool that we have two weeks and don't have to post every day. that's the way aha aha I like it. aha aha.

Welcome on board MiPr and snap

I'm in!

Didn't make it on week 50, so now its time to try something different.

PS, do you mods want to come up with the song titles all by your self or can we help with suggestions?
