THX, Fred!
I don't know. apparently it recovered? *touch wood*
(it started with a COM Surrogate message. after that it refused to start up, giving all kinds of mixed messages, not very consistant. even seen blue screens! :-S got it to start up a couple of times, then all of a sudden all buttons vanished, and stuff like that.
it's rather old, had it built 10+ years (!!!) ago for 3D. no longer suitable to run the latest versions of my 3D software, but still a beast when it comes to 2D. easily opens 20 - 30 pics at once without a blink.
experienced short circuit many years ago, due to a collision with a vacuum cleaner! and disabled the 2 colliding USB ports at the front then, but ? did a HD check.
and other devices? graphic cards of both -once impressive- laptoppies went to heaven and my 2004 (!) tablet no longer displays websites properly. well, that).

It sounds like you won the jackpot with computer disaster Ine . Let's hope it will keep on running now, although 10 years old may become a bit of a challenge.

Here two more with my haze copy
