This thread is for Dyxumer's to post pictures of London's (well technically Southwark's) 'Shard of Glass' during its construction.
If anyone wants to open up similar threads for other tall buildings being built around the globe please feel free - but you have to be prepared to post us some pictures along the way! To start off the Shard thread - Misty Shard - 29th Dec 2010.. Edited by Bob J - 31 December 2010 at 18:36 |

Nice shots. I particulary like the first photo with the contrast nicely picking out the texture of the buildings contrasting with the solid red of a London bus with the shard disappearing into the mist. Very nice.

You wait 2 months for a Shard photo and then two come along at the same time...
This one made up from 3 images taken with a 100mm lens and stitched together.. Note the diminutive Southwalk Cathedral in the shadow of the Shard. 20 April 2011 ![]() |

Hi Bob,
This latest version really pulls you up sharp (sorry!) for the sheer size of that new build by comparison with Southwalk Cathedral almost lost in the shadows. It's one mighty impressive build and this series is going to be a great thread as it continues to develop. Kind regards, Neil. |

is this going to be another expensive office building that will stay empty for at least 50% or will it have other purposes too
