Hi everyone, I would like to start a petition aimed at getting Sigma to get the finger out and release all of their full frame lenses in SONY a mount not just the 35mm and 50mm currently available. And as importantly to make the MC-11 adapter in SONY a to FE mount so that we can use one great set of lenses for both systems.

Wake up SIGMA, you are wasting a big and increasing business opportunity.

24-105mm and 18-35mm are also available for a-mount.

I don't think they are missing much tbh. But if you started a petition, I'd sign it because why not!!

I spoke to a Sigma representative at a show towards the end of last year - his comment on lenses for A-Mount was "If Sony sell more cameras then we'll bring lenses out for the mount" - which I can understand, but it fails to address the problem that in part Sony Sales are held lower by the lack of availability of the new quality lenses from Sigma!

I totally agree with that Faldrax.

The a99Mk2 Really should shake things up in the DSLR world, but will it be able to if companies like Sigma are holding back.

Sony releasing genuinely new lenses for A mount (rather than changing the coatings, putting in an updated SSM board, calling it Mk II and hiking the price on existing lenses) would certainly be an indicator that a mount was here to stay.

However, Sony are concentrating their designers on filling the e-mount lens linup - which they need to do (and to bring out some more budget concious options) to keep the e mount on the rise.

The difference with Sigma is they already have a bunch of lenses in Sigma, Canon and Nikon mounts that just need an A mount conversion

14 f/1.8 ART
20 f/1.4 ART
24 f/1.4 ART
12-24 f/4 ART
24-35 f/2 ART
24-70 f/2.8 ART
85 f/1.4 ART
135 f/1.8 ART
150-600 C & S

The above are all reasonably affordable, high quality lenses - there are even more if you start to go higher in cost.

If Sony could broker a deal with Sigma - much as it might pain Sony to have to pay a competitor, getting these out in A Mount would be a big boost, and help sales of the A99II, which is what Sony need.

Here is my wish list for Sony A-mount (in order of preference)
200 f/2.8 G SSM
55 f/1.2 GM SSM
120 f/2 GM SSM
28 f/1.7 G
28-140 f/2.8-4.5 G SSM

If Sony would do any of this Sigma might follow

I wish I had known of this site 2 years ago before I looked on eBay, the database is a great help. I have just spent about 6 months looking for a replacement for my old Sigma 70-210mm F2.8 that has hazed up with fungus and no one will work on it here in the UK, not even Sigma. That has put me off buying second hand from eBay, so I looked at buying a new lens but soon had a shock to find Sigma and Tamron have now discontinued thee HS versions in Sony A mount they say Nikon and Canon is all they do in high spec, both replied to my requests for UK stock levels saying I would probably find it hard to locate one. They were Wright everywhere I tried for a High speed A mount lenses it was a backorder item.

Most of the time I use a x2 converter giving me a 400mm F5.6 it worked for me on aircraft at air shows. So I have just purchased a Tamron SP 150-600mm F5-6.3. Tamron sent one out for me to try at my local dealer, I was surprised as the pros on YouTube video’s had nearly put me off but it works ok with my 14mps Sony A450 ok you have to stop it down to get a sharp image and it is plastic but compared to the Sony and Sigma eqevarlants it is only a third of the cost.

Given Sony's market share for A-mount - behind Ricoh-Pentax and around 1% - I suspect Sigma don't think it's financially worthwhile tooling up and manufacturing lens models for A mount so that they can sit in warehouses and on dealers shelves. Given the popularity of E mount, it's far more likely they will introduce E mount lenses - and I sincerely hope that they are designed for the format rather than "ported" SLR lenses with a large air gap at their rear.

Hello Everyone. I am confused as over the past year I have been trying to find a new Tamron 70-200 F2.8 in Sony A mount. All the camera outlets I have tried in the UK say Tamron and Sigma have stopped support for Sony users with these lenses. Amzon have stock but at a high price. I found an eBay trader in France selling them as EU Stock at a lower price than any UK second Hand I have seen, Can anyone confirm if the items are genuine Tamron Lenses, As when I emailed Tamron for info they did not seem very happy and told me I should not purchase from the eBay trader but go to my local dealer and make a request for one through Tamron as there still making them? What confuses me is I had an email from Tamron early in the year when I was trying to locate UK Stock. I was told will find it hard to find now as item discontinued. Has anyone purchased one of these Lenses? is it a bargain at £470 If so are they OK.

This is one of many eBay Link bellow.

This is an old model lens, that Tamron replaced about 5 years ago (check Dyxum lens database). Optically it has a pretty good reputation, but focus is reportedly slow. The chances are the expensive lenses on Amazon are the newer version, and this one is being sold to clear old stock.

if they start making more lenses for Sony they will probably be E-mount, which makes me think why are they not doing that. could it be that Sony are stopping them somehow. ok Sigma please I want the 135 1.8 if you don't mind

Yes now I see the picture on eBay is the same as the A001S in Dyxum Database, The gold text around the front of the lens body. The one I see on Amazon and most second hand lenses look like the same lens apart from the Gold band with text on it. Why did I not work that out? The problem is I would properly not use it much but most of the second hand versions of this lens I have seen have dust inside but you have been a great help with that info. I had thought of getting a Sony a850 or a900 then my Sigma 70-300 F4-5.6 would work. On my a700 and a450 with the X1.5 crop factor, F2.8 is about f4.2. Thanks again I have to decide which way to go now to get that Bokah effect I want.
