My first entry into this thread and I nearly never made it at all. It was quite late by the time I was able to get the camera out and this is all I could think to do.
This is Ama, one of my chooks. It's a grotty photo because it was getting late and the little sod would not stay still. It was also very cold, windy and snowing and I just wanted to go inside. ![]() A77 + Sony 35 f1.4G, f4, 1/60, ISO 1600 |

I missed Days 16, 20, 24, and 28 and did not want to miss Day 35. But I had very little spare time to shoot today so this is the only photo I ended up with using this lens, and only because my husband convinced me to bring the camera along while we did some shopping. Taken through the cafeteria window at the (somewhat) local Ikea so I couldn't get away from the flag poles and I'm sure there are some reflections here and there. Oh well, better luck next year.

Sadly not Cam. "He" has all the wrong bits ![]() Luckily I have plenty with the right bits though. All I get from him is a lot of noise and strutting about. He thinks he owns the place but he's only about 10" tall and one of the smallest I have so he gets put in his place regularly. There's not enough meat on him to make a sandwich. He's a handsome lad though. |

@ Robbie, I bet youy like your 35/2 as much as I do. Nice shots all and very diverse.
@ darosa, indeed a great day at the beach. We didn't get there due to all kind of other activities but still enjoyed the local snow. Interesting what you say about sharpness between the Minolta and Leica 35 mm's. I think part of it is the difference between 24 MP of the A900 and 14 MP of the Nex5 and secondly if you stop down the Minolta it is bitingly sharp, especially in the center while the Leica is sharp but with a bit less microcontrast. Since all pictures got the same PP I might sharpen the Leica shots a bit more (or different with a smaller radius) and see how that looks. @ russelsbag, beautiful animal and good shot. Worth the effort and getting cold. Also like all the other efforts here Shauna, Tom and ADub. It's indeed a pity about the flagpoles. The greenhouse door came out very well and the New Orleans Cajun is my favourite of that set of 3. |

If you appreciate comments on your photos, how about returning the favour to others . . . |

Well it is more a matter of contrast I think. That's why I thought the Leica shots were taken at a different time, and/or with different light. And the Leica shots are by no means 'worse', just different. |

Thanks again for the comment Leo and I realized I had two shots, ~2 min apart from about the same spot. So I cropped the A850 shot to APS-C size and you can compare the results here (only the Nex/Leica shot was at f5.6, while the Sony/Minolta shot was at f8):
![]() ![]() My conclusion (supported by much more pixel peeping, but visible in these shots at web size) is that the center of the Minolta is sharper than the Leica, but around the APS-C edges they're identical to my eyes. Only PP on these images was exposure/blackpoint and WB adjustment so they look more or less the same, sharpening at 0 and all other settings at my Lightroom import default. Very mild photokit sharpener applied to compensate for the downsizing (but exactly equal for both shots). So I think what you saw is a genuine attribute of the lens/sensor combo, and not of light/subject/time of day. I will spare you the 100% crops here, I almost felt guilty doing so much peeping since my normal reaction is that pixel peepers need to get a life: ![]() ![]() |

Minolta 35mm f2
Another gloomy day so walked back in the woods to my favorite car and experimented with the flash and slow shutter speed. I also thought a few worked well in B&W. I wish we would get a little snow just to give me a bit of variety in the landscape.
