Oops, I lost my a99ii eyecup.

Can I call on the good people of Dyxum to help me work out the replacement part???    I've searched around a bit and I think there is some duff info out on the internet. Even the Sony site isn't massively helpful, showing two different cups (FDA-EP16 and 18, also compatible with a58 and the a9)

I think it might be the same part as one of those but I'm not sure. All I know is that the a99 classic and a77ii eyecups don't fit the a99ii (I have tried them!)

I'm off on hols on Saturday so I need to get an order in soon.

Can any a99ii owners please try any other eyecups they have to see if they fit then report back here? That would be brilliant

Ps I'm not interested in those big floppy rubber scoop eyecups, I much prefer the original

Do any of the eyecups from older models (eg film cameras) fit? I tend to swap these around as needed.
A900, A58, 5d, Dynax 4, 5, 60, 500si/600si/700si/800si, various Sony & Minolta lenses, several Tamrons, lots of MF primes and *far* too many old film cameras . . .

The FDA-EP18 is an eyecup standard attached to A9.
This also fits 99II.(and all A7 series.)
I have 99II and A9 so I actually tried FDA-EP18 with 99II.
Since FDA-EP18 has a lock mechanism, it is effective for loss prevention.

Just curious, but why did you remove it in the first place?

I'm not sure how it happened but it just seems to have been knocked off somewhere. I retraced my steps but no sign....

According to mhohner.de (here) the 99II can use the FDA-EP15 and FDA-EP16 eye cups.

Checking on B&H shows that only the FDA-EP16 is available (-EP15 discontinued) and according to B&H the FDA-EP18 also fits the A99II.

Hmmm, the FDA-EP15 is listed on the Sony US site as current and several stores sell it....

See this Dpreview thread for the difference between the FDA-EP15 and FDA-EP16.

FDA-EP18 arrived this morning - perfect fit.    The rubber surround is nicely soft, so I don't worry about bashing my glasses too much.

It's funny, I can't remember what the original rubber felt like. Was it the firm type?   It was clearly not causing a problem though.
