Well, you can all thank me for this one. I bought the 70-200 sunday, and today it drops another 50 bucks. Figures.

So did some other lenses. This is at BH, my source for street prices. I track them as the drop (monthly)

2.8/28   Down 10 bucks to $230 : Now 15 bucks more then the Minolta, but is fully restyle, the minolta was never RS'd.

2.8/135 STF Down 50 bucks to $1150 : 150 bucks more then the Minolta would be

1.4/35G Down 50 bucks to $1350 : 235 bucks more then the Minolta, but this is a new lens, not rebadged.

2.8/300G Down 96 bucks to $5700 : Now 800 bucks more then the Minolta would be. but has dropped 300 bucks in a bit over 2 months.

75-300 Down 10 bucks to $210 : 55 bucks more then the Minolta would be, still lame.

70-200G Down 50 bucks to $2300 : 370 bucks more then the Minolta would be. Oh well.

Since January, lenses have been falling. The 85 ZA is the only lens, body, flash, TC to have never seen a price drop. Of course being sold out for months helps that. But they are back in stock.

The trend since January is about 50 buck drops per month for the expensive lenses, and 10-40 buck drops for cheaper ones.

2.8/300G Down 96 bucks to $5700!!

I had the opportunity to use one of these recently: Nikon Telephoto AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/2.8G AF-S ED-IF VR (Vibration Reduction) Autofocus Lens, and what a fine thing it was. Yum.

At usd $4,499.00 Sony are going to have to sharpen the pencil somewhat methinks to become competitive on price. The 70-200 equivalent is about usd$1600-00 a gap of a couple of hundred bucks. How much is a second hand D70?? You could have the Nikon cam and lens for the same price as the Sony lens if you were that way inclined.

Yeah, 300G is a nice lens, good to see it get some healthy drops on the street.

The part that worries me is seeing only a 2.8/400G on the horizon for the next year. While that and the 300 will/are nice stuff.   Even for those who can buy them, they aren't the most desirable lens. Thats why i want the 4.5/400 to come back. It's fast and high end, but obtainable for people and can be carried around without much issue.

Yeah, but why did you see a price change and I did not. I held off buying waiting to see it show this on my side. By then, I thought I was safe, then doh!

I will contact Henry, I think they would adjust for that. When Someone buys 3K of stuff from you and you drop the price 50 bucks the next day, I think you would be pretty adjusting to them. I'd hate to see what they would show if they rolled my for the last few years to see how much stuff I have bought there.

They'll give you a refund, a few other people have got them when the prices dropped.

Mabey see if you can get a feee filter or somthing instead of $50.
