SSM price

Sony lens price correction begins, looks like they are getting ready to play :)

Cheers,

N

Edit: Added US to the topic (for some Euro envy and clarity's sake)

The prices of the both teleconverters seem to be cut as well.

They are sold for $449.99 in Sony style now while B&H sells them for $569.95 (1.4x) and $609.95 (2x).

I paid full price in NZ dollars when the exchange rate was very bad.

Why should any Johnny Come Latelys be able to get them at bargain prices?? I want to remain exclusive.

On the other hand they could have an APO-C model with the "C" standing for cheap. This would have the glass machine polished for 30 mins. I wouldn't mind so much then.

I just checked and everything that is reduced is on backorder. Kind of crappy of sonystyle IMO since it doesn't matter how cheap it is if it's not available. Now I don't feel bad about paying $2300 for my 70-200mm SSM a few weeks ago, at least I've been out shooting with it instead of wishing for it at a discounted price. Summer is on it's way out so it won't take long for me to get $300 worth of pleasure out of it.

In www.sony.dk it's only 24.999DKK (4.574,36USD or 3.355,63EUR). Two of those pleace...

I don't get it why there is such a big difference in price.

Yeah, same here in UK - SOnystyle has it for L1850 (about $3500 or 2600 euro).

I'd love to hear a justification from Sony as to why they are charging european customers 80-100% more for the same item made in Japan...

Come on Sony - give us an answer!

Otherwise, we might just start to think you are just royally ripping us all off and making a huge profit from us...

Frankly, they really are taking the p**s, and it's one of the reasons I don't like them and I don't trust them. In the words of my friend, "they think they're too nice".

Of course there is a difference in VAT depending on which country your live in (25% in Denmark) but that would only justify a price difference of eg. 25%.
