I currently own eight lenses. Since I first caught this disease, I've owned probably 30 or more. Out of all that, one lens was bought new, and that only because there was nothing comparable used.

Of my current lenses the only one bought as brand new are Sony 18-55 SAM and K-M 17-35. All the rest (9) have been bought as used or demonstration examples.

See sig....will likely add a T 17-50 or Sony 16-105 new soon...

The 28, 50, 35-105, 100-200 were bought new with my 9000's the 28-85 (love it!) 75-300D and a spare 50 1.7 were recent snags the 28-85 on ebay and the other 2 in local shop used.

The 35-105 should come out of the shop refurbished soon....my favorite lens, can't wait!

I've not bought a new lens yet and have been fortunate with the used ones i've owned (all Minolta original Maxxum's except my Sigma 15-30mm bought from frankieg here @ dyxum).

The CZ 85mm would be the top of the list for me *if* i ever bought new.

In all I have about 25 lenses. This includes a set for me, a set for my wife, a few specialty lenses and 5 M42 primes (my favorites in the right circumstances). Of these three were purchased new, two of those were bought at the pastoral discount when Minolta left the market.

Buying used lenses has been a good experience for me. I've bought one bad used lens that the seller took back, I've bought one bad new lens that the seller took back. Percentage wise, used lenses have been more satisfactory than new, in my experience.
thx

Currently all I have are new lenses.

70-400mm G
24-70mm Zeiss
85mm Zeiss

I've owned a beercan and a big beercan, but wasn't too impressed with either. Good lenses for the money for sure, but I think those two scared me away from trying others.

In my lens career, I've owned the following second hand lenses (all Minolta):

100-200 f/4.5 (still own it)
70-210 f/4 (sold it)
Two 50mm f/1.7s (sold them both)
28-85 (hocked it for rent, kinda miss it)
28mm f/2.8 (hocked for rent, don't really miss it)

New lenses:
Sigma 28-105 f/2.8-4 (sold it)
Sigma 50mm f/2.8 Macro (sold it)
Sigma 50-500 (Sold it)
Tamron 28-200 (Had it for about a week since I bought it by mistake!)
KM and Sony 18-70 kit lenses (sold them both)

Tamron 17-50 (still own it)
Tamron 70-200 (still own it)
Sony 70-400 G (just bought it!)

I plan on buying another new lens, the Tokina 11-16, unless Sony brings out some mystery APS wide angle zoom. :)

I bought a 28-75/2.8 new at a knock down price and 16-105 new when it became obvious the kit lens wasn't going to do the business in the Rockies. Walked down to the closest camera store and bought it. Paid a lot but never regreted it.

The rest are all second hand, beercan, 50/1.7, 28-85, 100-300 APO.

it looks most of us bought used lenses. I want to say our Dyxum lens database really helped me a lot in used lens acquisition. quite a few responses mentioned "good experience" in purchasing used lenses. For me, I have to say that experience starts from this very Dyxum database.

Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6 EX
Sigma 50 f/1.4 HSM
