Thanks Peter! Great idea and very good video demonstration. I always like making home made products to use with my flash.

Peter, I feel it necessary that you do all the hard work for me. I just ordered a starter set from you. I have used the sto-fen with mixed results. This is a great idea, and I appreciate you sharing it with us here. Thanks.

I just made one from printing paper. This gives already good results, I found also that foamy material whould be better because for one test I put my son close to a wall and the result was still an ugly shadow. Removing the paper and only bouncing gave better results but some light from the front whould improve the picture.
Isn't this foamy material also used when building maquettes? |

Thanks Peter for this great idea.
I will try to get that foamy material in the Netherlands B.t.w. you published an article on Lulu some time ago about flash photography with the 7D. Unfortunatly it's not there anymore. Is there a way to still get this article? Whould be great. regards Hans |

Thanks for the video. Should be pretty useful, especially for the
5600 flash. |

Hi Guys,
I have invented and been selling something called ABetterBounceCard for a little while now. In the last few months over the summer, I haven't sold a single one of them, sales just dried up completely. I was going to put the thing to bed and not have them for sale anymore. But in all the 30 plus years I have been a photographer I never really did anything to change the industry, I just did photography. Now is a chance I have to put something back into the industry. The problem with putting away the Better Bounce Card is it is just too good a thing to hide under a rock. So I got my little point and shoot camera, a studio strobe (using the modeling light) and made a video showing how to make a better bounce card from start to finish for FREE. I hold nothing back and don't hide anything. You can make them yourself in a matter of minutes right in your own home or studio. Nothing to buy, you can make it from a simple piece of inkjet paper, or find the foamy paper I suggested in the video in a local craft type shop. In the USA you can even buy the paper in Walmart stores. Check out the video, remember this is not a commercial production but just me sitting in front of my little point and shoot camera using the video mode, so cut me some slack :) I used a microphone because the fan from the studio light was being recorded by the camera way too loud. The video is at http://www.abetterbouncecard.com and it is about 20 minutes long. If something is not clear, please ask, I am glad to help. They make less stuff for the KM flash units so I think a lot of you will find this really helpful in your photography. Regards, Peter Edited by Peter Gregg - 08 September 2006 at 20:03 |
