I typically leave turn off the camera for days at a time.

I just removed the main battery, put it back in, it's fine but I just pulled it out for a couple of seconds. I assume the internal battery is weak and can't stand alone for long while I charge the main battery.

Harldy seems worth a major repair.

There's also a note on page 148 of the user manual:

Charging method of the internal rechargeable battery

Insert a charged battery pack in the camera... and leave the camera for 24 hours or more with the power off.

Have you tried that?

That seems odd. Do you only have one battery that has to recharge for a long time? If so, what happens if you just remove it for a minute and put it back in? If the clock remembers the time and date that way, then maybe you should get a second battery that you keep charged and ready.

It will be quite involved to get to the battery which is located on the AM001 board. You would have to remove the back, and the lcd.

You can google for "sony a100 service manual level 2" for instruction on how to disassemble the camera.

and you can get the battery from amazon.

I have to reset the date and time on my A100 every time I remove the battery for recharge. Any idea how I can fix this without paying Sony repair?

Is there an internal battery? Does anyone know how to replace it?

thanks
