I get this message on my a200. I have tried changing batteries and CF cards but get the same message. I have tried different lens too but the result is the same. The camera is now un-usable. Any possible DIY fixes before I send it to the service center?
Thanks in advance |

Let's be analytical about it. What *does* the camera do, and what does it *not* do?

If all you see is 'Camera Error' that's not a lot to go on. According to the manual you've done all you can do and it's time for Sony to take over.

Noooooooooooooooo.... more cold Ramen... sob sob .Anyway, I've decided not to repair it. Any suggestions for other "interesting" uses for this broken down equipment? |

Sadly the A200 is not even heavy enough to make a good doorstop. Someone may be able to make use of it though. Sell it on Ebay, 'as is, for spares or repair', stating the problem clearly. You may be pleasantly surprised by what you get for it. |

It appears to be the aperture mechanism that is faulty. My M42 adapter arrived yesterday and the body works perfectly well with my M42 Pentax SMC 50/1.8. Woh! Great crispy images from a vintage lens for landscapes. Sharp! Sharp! Sharp!
I'm keeping the a200 and will continue using it until it gives up the ghost. :-) |

I've had the same error from either a ring adapter chip or a bad memory card.
