I have the chance (thanks to Sony Croatia) to spend some time with 135 STF lens (and share my thoughts here once i get more familiar with it).
First day walk has already proved that is really a special lens, a gem ... a beauty but also a lens that will not suit everyone and with not so perfect CA control IMHO (but i need far more than few shoots to be able to write anything reliable).

Happy shooting

congrats kiklop! have fun with it!

I agree with CA comment. On 7D, the STF's CA is controlled (as long as no TC attached) but on a100 it really shows up in high contrast . A similar thig happens with a lot of the Nikon lenses on the D200 also... so IMO another 'small sensor' problem

really nice pics. the more I see from this lens the more I love it, and, the more I can't afford :)
but that thing with CA only with alpha sounds not good, I hope SONY fix that until "a10"

i doubt the CA can be "fixed"... it is just one of the things of a high megapixel small sensor... any "flaws" become more apparent!

aha, ok... that's not really good. but sure it must be possible to fix if the sensor is the problem... maybe with better signal treatment or something... sounds strange if it cannot be fixed...

i guess the way to look at it is that it is the optical design of the lens that needs "fixing" if it is a problem, so the sensor itself can do much about it =)

(it is probably one of the things they compromised a little for the bokeh)

Well, i must say again, the lens is just beautiful piece of glass; excellent build quality and gorgeous bokeh performance (it's a curse have this lens since once used to this bokeh any other lens will hardly be considered as a excellent bokeh performer :().
But yes, my first day with it has certainly resulted in more CA than i have expected. On the other hand, CA is one optical issue that can be fixed to great extend in post processing, so IMHO it isn't a deal breaker.

I didn't take any comparison shoots with "standard" lenses for this one, but believe me, this is GREAT bokeh for such a challenging scene.

What IS a bit problematic is small APS-C sized viewfinder which isn't really up to the task here for manualy focusing, since at 135mm ( 200mm 35mm eqv) focusing can be a real challenge ( i returned home with more OOF images that those spot on !). Sure it requires a bit of practice but IMHO if anyone is considering this lens should also consider additional body with split screen installed.

And btw, these are taken with my 7D.

I don't know .. i guess 10 days - 2 weeks.
I know it all goes for personal relations, but once again, i really must express my gratitude to Goran from Sony Croatia; it is just a great guy that have filled me with more faith in the "Sony thing" (i confess that i was .. or still am, on the skeptical side) that i would have without meeting him.

Hi everyone! Maybe a silly question , but I am not quite sure what "CA" really means. Can someone please enlighten me little bit? Thanks!
