Topic: What is your main film camera?Posted: 28 January 2010 at 10:23 |
|
Partly in recognition, of the 25th anniversary of the launch of the system with the 7000, but also partly because of the roasting I got for leaving a film camera option off the main 'What camera body do you use' poll, I thought it would be interesting to have a poll that would allow people to register what film bodies they use.
Unfortunately, there is a limit of 15 options on these polls, so I've had to group stuff together. I've tried to give priority to the top-end stuff and to newer equipment, while allowing for those who think automatic focus is the work of the devil..
Because the groupings are not going to please everybody, I'll leave the replies open so people can be as specific as they like. Bob |

Excellent idea, Bob.
I voted for the Dynax 7, but I could have as easily ticked the other SLR box for my x-700 kit or the rangefinder box as an Olympus Trip 35 seems to follow me around everywhere... |

manual focus minolta would have been a nice option, my primary camera atm is my minolta xd7/11, use it more often than my a350 atm :-) a good third would be my 9000AF

Well, I put "Other SLR" since my current favorite is the Asahi Pentax 6x7. Unfortunately another one of my favorites doesn't fit into any of your categories. Its a 1949 Speed Graphic 4x5 with a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 13.5cm lens and it is one very cool camera!
My next two favorites would be the Asahi Pentax Spotmatic and the Minolta Alpha 9!

I voted for Maxxum 9, because that's the camera I'll pick if I am going for a serious session with film.
However, I have Maxxum 7 with Minolta 50/1.7 with Superia X-TRA 400 as a small setup which is always in my bag and it is probably more used than the 9. |

I voted what I have (7000i) but would like a 7 or SSM 9 so I could use the 70-200 with AF.
Does a 5 do SSM?? |

Captured Moments are my specialty. Equipment does not the shooter make, even though I need more!

Thanks, Bob!
We may be a minority over here, but we're obviously a vocal one! (My main is the 9, but my second would be the 7- there are a lot of 7 users out there!) Edited by Eclipse - 28 January 2010 at 15:26 |

I did originally have options for Minolta MF, other MF and so on, but options were tightand I didn't feel I should compress the AF models any more than I had already - still feel slightly guilty for not having an option for the 500si...

I voted for the 7000i, as this seems to be an AF-centric poll. However, I just love my XD-11, but have been using the 7000i more.
The metering of the 7000i is the best of any camera I have ever used - PERIOD. FULL STOP! Rarely have I ever had a bad exposure. It's uncanny. It's better than the Minolta 14-segment metering, and also the Sony 40-segment metering in that it is very reproducible. I find that newer cameras can change their exposure values even when you don't recompose between shots. I guess the fuzzy logic can come to a different conclusion each time. Rick |

I put in 'Other SLR'. I have a 7000, but it gets... well no use at all.
My x-700 gets used most often, followed by my trusty Pentax Spotmatic. |
