Topic: Which A77 kit...Posted: 07 December 2012 at 14:06 |

Hi Guys,
I'm about to buy a new camera and I'm about 95% set on the A77. What i'm debating at the moment is which kit to get. I'm leaning towards the 18-135 kit, so I'll have that as a general use lens and then getting a 35/1.8 prime as an indoor, low-light (i.e., not annoying people with flash) lens. But, I really like the WR on the 16-50/2.8, but I'm a little worried that at 2.8 and with an SLT as opposed to SLR I'll loose enough light that I'm going to be back on the flash indoors. I've read (generally) good reviews for both cameras but don't have enough experience with the light loss from an SLT to know how that will impact the 2.8 lens. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated! Thanks, -Walter |

The 16-50 is truly an awesome lens. It's fast and it has SSM. I wouldn't live without mine.
The 18-135, on the other hand, offers more reach and is probably more convenient as a walk-around lens. But it has SAM and is not as fast. If you can live with a fixed prime for indoor shooting, I would go for the 18-135, but I feel a 16-50 is a lens everybody should have. |

I agree with Magic but will add that you can always have the 16-50 + a fast prime
. I usually still carry my 35 1.8 (plastic fantastic) and my Sig 50 1.4 (heavy s.o.b.) along with my 16-50 for low light shooting. I know I can deal with just carrying the sig, but the 35 weighs next to nothing, lol. p.s. I always refer to the 16-50 as the G lens without the G. I highly recommend it to any a-mount aps-c shooter. |
