Vortex Storm Jacket Camera Covers

More than a month ago, we had a small discussion in our forum about camera rain covers. At that time I promised that I will try to get Vortex Storm Jacket Camera Covers and see if these can be of any use. I received them few weeks ago and decided to put the middle sized one in my bag. Ok, I must confess that I have forgot about it (and my apologies to Vortex Media for a late review) but even better so!

Yesterday, I was out shooting when the mother nature has decided to play another summer rain episode with me outside with my bag full of lenses. I opened the zipper of my lowepro specialist bag to cover it with the rain cover and . ta-da .. here is where I have placed Vortex camera cover. Great !!! I was so happy since this is just the kind of accessories I like the most; cheap and small but indispensable when one need it!

The covers are available in 3 sizes and colours. The color is a personal preference of course (I prefer the black one which does not attract too much attentions) while the sizes may depend on lenses attached to the camera. I found the middle size to be flexible enough for use with small primes and longer tele lenses (it will fit Minolta 80-200/2.8 or sigma 300/4 perfectly).

The cover comes with a small pouch that can be easily attached to a bag or other equipment if necessary.

The cover is very easy to use and I didn't found any issue with it. Straight and simple solution for a man in the field.

But what is really great about this cover is it's size. It can be "squeezed" enough to make it fit almost everywhere. And that's a big bonus.

Experienced users knows that the worst kind of accessory is the kind of too big, or too heavy or too troublesome to bring it with us. And camera rain covers should be with us every time we go out shooting, not just when we know that it's going to be raining (in this sense I have one suggestion for the manufacturer; it would be great to have one ergonomic camera neck strap with the camera rain cover inside, ready to be used when needed)

This is not an ultimate camera rain cover. Covers that I have seen from Kata are in the different league but are not so small and practical to bring them always with us .. and once again, this is a strong commitment for Vortex Storm Jacket Camera Cover.

I can't do nothing but recommand it!

Happy shooting
