ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Minolta 35-80mm II f/4-5.6 (A-mount)
Minolta 24-105mm f/3.5-4.5 D (A-mount)
price paid:NZD$370
positive:It performs reasonably well as an inexpensive "kit" lens. The OIS performs quite well, especially shooting video. Fairly compact & lightweight, which along with the A7S I use it on makes for a nice light compact walkabout combo.
negative:Some softness in the corners that never fully goes away even stopped down. Not the fastest of lenses with an f/3.5-5.6 aperture range. 28mm is not quite wide enough sometimes.
comment:Its a nice lens for general walkabout purposes, especially video, but I'd prefer to have something more capable on the camera if high image quality was a priority.
